Job Description
The Estimator/Project Manager works closely with the entire team to create job estimates that meet the client’s budgetary goals and the company’s fiscal objectives.
ResponsibilitiesDetermine scope of work on Request for Proposals.Coordinate raw material volumes and costs along with any third-party supplier pricing.Combine internal labor hours to build finished components.Create a project estimate for review and validation.Work closely with project managers, purchasing, and shop management to fully understand the project realities and alternatives to achieve expected deliverables.Develop accurate job cost estimates by analyzing blueprints, understanding client goals, and compiling material, labor, subcontract, installation, freight, and overhead costs.Capture and catalog results for use and comparisons in future estimating requests.Categorize and present materials for kickoff meetings by communicating job cost assumptions and plans to Purchasing, Project Managers, and Shop Foremen.Interact with the purchasing and production groups to review material choices and alternatives.Develop quality and value-engineering opportunities with the engineering and production departments.Build material and labor routers.Essential Skills3+ years of experience in client-facing project management within the store fixtures, millwork, casework, or building construction industry.Ability to read architectural drawings for understanding of interior finishes and millwork needs.Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Global Shop ERP system.Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Construction, Architecture, Millwork, Woodworking, or Fixture Design.Experience in estimating manufacturing costs for retail, construction, restaurant fixture packages, millwork, or architecture industry.Ability to read blueprints and perform take-offs.Proven ability to build and improve estimating processes and systems.Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Work Environment
The work environment offers hybrid flexibility with a clean manufacturing floor. The office space is designed like a showroom with custom wood paneling, tables, and industrial fixtures, overlooking the production floor through floor-to-ceiling windows. The Estimator will work with customers at different locations, building relationships and managing clients. Projects typically last 8-12 weeks, with some as short as 6 weeks. The Estimator will occasionally work on Saturdays and collaborate with engineers and the production team to ensure timely material arrivals.
