EMPLOYMENT IS SEASONAL AND TEMPORARY** Note: Interested applicants should also view the ESY - Specialized Day School PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Extended School Year (ESY) offers specialized services to students with disabilities. The decision to provide ESY is made by the IEP Team, who assesses the necessity to minimize substantial regression and reduce substantial recoupment, ensuring effective progress for the students. The IEP Team also evaluates the level of needs and recommends specific IEP services during ESY based on individual student requirements. The determination of ESY services is made according to the IEP Team's identification, focusing on the student's individual needs and aligning with the delivery of targeted ESY goals and objectives.The instructional hours for students are 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, for 5 weeks from July 7 to August 8, 2025. REPORTS TO: Position reports to the Director of Extended School Year and Expanded Learning in the Office of Specialized Services. When you are hired to work the Extended School Year (ESY) program, you are committing to the entire duration of the program. This means that your assignment may involve working at different sites, as staffing needs arise. Flexibility in location is an essential requirement of the position, and by accepting this job offer, you agree to be available for reassignment to various sites as needed throughout the program. The Site Coordinator duties: Administrative + Provide leadership and management at one program site. + Be on-site and supervise the program for at least 7-hour day, 5 days per week for the weeks of the summer program or until all students have been dismissed for the day (due to late/missed buses, students returning back to the school as a result of no parent/guardian being home to accept the student, etc). + Attend ESY career fair interview sessions prior to the start of the program. + Attend designated ESY team meetings in spring and organize and attend designated ESY Professional Development (PD) on June 25 and June 26, 2025. + Be available to participate in planning activities immediately upon hiring. + Plan and participate in family engagement activities to support student attendance and participation + Oversee hiring, curriculum, and operational planning and implementation at a site. + Adhere to ESY handbook policy (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1K5yzOYtn1hifZrBn5xMQnO22vajoWxHfCbgbHTW5zsM/edit?tab=t.0) and ensure compliance with policy across the site + Adhere to Superintendent Circulars, particularly with respect to student safety, and emphasize the importance of these policies to all staff + Demonstrate understanding of the Special Education Handbook, including standard protocols and procedures for students with disabilities + Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all student-specific information + Complete all assignments in a timely fashion + Monitor and respond to email, GChat, and phones closely (starting at the point of hire and concluding the week after ESY) for communication from the Central Office, ESY staff, and families Operational + Follow and train all staff on the ESY protocols for loading and unloading buses and for ensuring student and staff safety throughout the program, including daily preparation of bus labels and lists + Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills. + Oversee the implementation of effective processes for student safety, health, and wellness. + Manage student and staff information using approved ESY data systems (e.g. attendance, daily schedules, payroll, and timesheets, etc.) + Coordinate with related service providers to ensure appropriate student and staff schedules + Create a team-oriented culture to increase staff engagement in student outcomes. + Supervise progress report data collection and finalization of reports and ensure timely completion. + Approve and finalize all reports within data systems. + Provide Safety Care Training to staff prior to the start of ESY, ensuring they fulfill the mandatory requirement to be eligible for work. Instructional + Ensure that ESY IEP goals, objectives, and services are provided in accordance with individualized students’ IEPs and the completion of progress reports + Monitor the delivery of behavioral support plans, safety plans, and ABA services as recommended by students’ IEPs + Supervise instruction, services, and the monitoring of student regression and progress + Ensure that the collection of all summer teaching materials and resources are available for each classroom and create a system to receive, pack up, and unpack materials before the program starts and after the conclusion of ESY. + Ensure the consistent application of rigorous teaching methods and the effective delivery of ESY IEP services by providing instructional support for academic and social-emotional services. + Supervise completion of ESY progress reports per approved ESY data systems + Support high-quality instruction by facilitating professional development, modeling instructional practices, observing instruction, and providing feedback + Engage and collaborate with families as partners in planning and problem-solving and take a proactive approach to family engagement + Establish a safe and welcoming learning environment for students, families, and staff + Demonstrate completion of other critical tasks and duties as requested by any ABA Program Director, Assistant Director of Special Education, Director of Operations & Service Implementation, Director of Extended School Year & Expanded Learning, and/or Chief and Deputy Chiefs of Special Education Program Responsibilities Prior to start of ESY (March - June approved by Director of Extended School Year) not to exceed 75 Hours : + Attend assigned scheduled interview sessions + Collaborate with the Director of Extended School Year and designated administrator. + Ensure staffing readiness and report on status. + Ensure you have classes built according to the requirements outlined for ESY. + Ensure structures are in place and ready for daily operations of your assigned site. + Participate in all scheduled team meetings/PD sessions as the Director of Extended School Year outlines. + Preparation and follow-up tasks as outlined. + Attend mandatory staff PD sessions and complete preparation work. + Receive, pack, unpack, and organize materials before and after the ESY program. + Coordinate and oversee Open House activities at your assigned site. TERMS: + The individual who is hired to this position agrees to the 2025 BPS Summer Employment Terms (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZfsrEFHXX6hI4vddcfVNHhjA4rrtFFisBKuEN6IZ\_e4/edit?tab=t.0) . + This position is paid hourly at a rate of $60 per hour on the Boston Public Schools bi-weekly payroll schedule. + Additional work hours that exceed the (7) hours in a day will require approval from the Director of Extended School Year & Expanded Learning. + Please be advised that pursuant to Massachusetts and Federal law, BPS considers site coordinators to be professional employees (or exempt employees), and they are expected to work as long as necessary to complete the required work. + The individual who is hired to this position consents to electronic sign-in procedures on site, that is retained by BPS exclusively for audit and sign-in verification (payroll). + Failure to report to work on a given day of instructional time will result in a loss of pay for that day. + BASAS Members must complete all required S6500 days by the end of the school year to be eligible for this role. + Job offers are conditional and based on sufficient student enrollment/attendance. QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED: + Bachelor’s degree. + Massachusetts Educator License in Moderate Disabilities, Severe Disabilities, Early Childhood, Special Education, and/or Special Education Administrator and/or Certification or Licensure as a Behavior Analyst, Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Social Worker, Psychologist, Speech Therapist, or Occupational Therapist. + Supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to manage and supervise staff and maintain safety protocols for students and staff. + Ability to utilize Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Forms and/or commitment to learning the Google systems rapidly. + Must be a Certified Safety-Care trainer per the Superintendent of Boston Public Schools. + Demonstrated ability to serve as an instructional leader– given the essential skills to supervise educators, support staff, provide constructive feedback, and foster collaboration. + Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment. QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED: + Minimum of five years of Teaching and/or administrative experience + Current teacher or administrator in the Boston Public Schools and/or another school district or private school + Prior experience working in the role of a supervisor in a BPS ESY program or another school district. + BPS values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity.
