Location: Albany, NY Category: Engineering Posted On: Thu Feb 27 2025 Job Description: Job Description for Etch Development Engineer JOB SUMMARY NY Creates is seeking applicants for the position of an Etch Process Development Engineer to work in its 300mm semiconductor development facilities. This position is responsible for equipment qualification, advanced process development, compatibility/material evaluations, sustainability simulations and characterization targeting advanced semiconductor applications. This individual will need to lead and contribute to semiconductor hands on fabrication of process development projects to advance new products from concept phase thru manufacturing phase. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: + Thorough 300mm equipment and process qualification specific to Front end of line (FEOL) and Back end of the line (BEOL), etching of photoresist, ARC (anti-reflective coatings) spin on carbon (SOC) materials and deposited films. Work focuses on process development through experimental matrices to determine best known methods for etch of integration of lithography stacks (bi, tri and quad layers) and deposited films (SiN, Polysiliscon, Oxides, Metals, etc). Engineer must have experience with integration of lithography and deposited films stacks as well associated metrology: CD SEM, cross sectional SEM and must also be familiar with material characterization using analysis from such techniques as XRD, TEM, EDS, SIMS, Auger, AFM and thickness. + Applicant must be versed in FEOL and BEOL semiconductor integration schemes, in addition to knowledge and experience in logic and memory device fabrication. Lot ownership that achieves fast cycles of learning is required. The successful applicant must be able to interface effectively with fab operations, process maintenance, and semiconductor engineering professionals from client companies. + The candidate must execute projects-based tasks that include process development, integration and metrology/characterization of materials working side-by-side with a diverse group of engineers. Assume ownership and accountability for successful completion of projects and programs. Report results both internally and externally with presentation and formal report packages. Interact with other engineers in areas of design, growth, fabrication and test to facilitate fabrication and device optimization. Patterning experience and process development established within 300mm fabrication line. + Other reasonable duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Minimum Requirements for Etch Development Engineer + B.S. degree in Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 10+ years of experience working in the semiconductor industry as a Process Development Etch Engineer OR M.S. degree in Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization and 5+ years of experience working in the semiconductor industry as a Process Development Etch Engineer. + A good understanding of BEOL and FEOL integration - particularly as related to metal and material schemes - is required. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, exhibit solid leadership ability, be familiar with SPC/DOE methodologies, and be willing to execute a variety of tasks on short notice. Good program management and customer interface skills are essential. Knowledge of MS Office, DOE, and yield/defectivity analysis software are strongly recommended. + NY Creates is a multi-client, consortium environment, and the successful individual must demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment is a must. + This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS + Working knowledge of SiView and SPC + Proficient in Ingenio (TEL), eCenter (AMAT) + Familiarity and experience with FEOL, MOL and BEOL applications + Applications related to CMOS and memory applications. + Material characterization and material properties specific to application and technology. + Program management experience Don't meet every requirement?
