Your role and responsibilitiesThis role will develop, reinforce and implement ABB’s advocacy work in Brussels to support ABB’s motors and drives businesses, working together with ABB Group Government Relations & Public Affairs (GRPA). This position is based in Brussel and will be is hosted in the Drive Products division of ABB Motion Business Area. Your will report to the Global Portfolio manager of Drive Products and have mandate for all Motion divisions with focus on electric motors and drives.ABB’s electric motors and drives are at the core of accelerating a more productive and sustainable future. We deliver motor driven solutions for a wide range of applications in all industrial segments.Your responsibilities•\tEnhance ABB’s brand as a technology leader in energy efficiency, enabling a more sustainable and resource-efficient future with the EU policymaking community.•\tTogether with ABB Group GRPA, establish and maintain relationships with EU policymakers, relevant trade and industry associations, industry peers, external consultancy and more.•\tServe as representative for motors and drives businesses on policies of importance at EU-level, as well as relevant trade associations and NGOs, in collaboration with ABB Group GRPA. •\tDevelop and implement advocacy strategies and stakeholder engagement plans to advance ABB’s market position and priorities.•\tActively monitors, researches, and analyzes EU policy and regulatory developments, and the political environment. Identifies opportunities for ABB leadership and businesses. •\tProvides advice to internal stakeholders about policy, regulatory, and political developments that may impact its various businesses divisions, markets, and/or customers. •\tCommunicates through regular written, verbal, and virtual updates to internal stakeholders. •\tSupports integrity culture in GRPA and models highest standards of behavior in interactions with government and policy stakeholders. Upholds and reinforces ABB’s policies and standards. Ensures that government relations activities protect and strengthen ABB’s brand, reputation and business activities.
Qualifications for the roleMinimum 10 years of experience in European government relations, public affairs, or similar roles. Experience in a large, international company welcome. Experience with industrial manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or technology sector advocacy welcome.Extensive knowledge of EU institutions and EU decision-making process. In-depth knowledge of EU global issues (e.g.: energy and industry topics and sustainability and climate policies, trade and international affairs). Understanding of EU standardization process is beneficial. Strong project management experience, a problem-solver that is able to manage multiple projects within complex organizations.Coordination and management of internal working groups; facilitation skills to drive action among internal and external stakeholders.Ability to represent ABB policy positions with authority and persuasion.Strong understanding of corporate communication and reputation management.Strategic thinking and planning skills to develop short- and long-term integrated strategies.Interested in the business and driven by contributing to company success.Solutions-oriented mindset, structured, takes ownership, gets things done and on time.Team player mentality; motivated self-starter able to work independently.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing policy briefs, consultation submissions, talking points and other materials; demonstrated research and analytical skills.Experience translating policy and politics to a business audience. University degree, preferably master’s level, MBA welcome.Fluent English; additional languages welcome.
