Job Description

Albemarle Germany GmbH employs more than 700 people in two plants in Germany. Its operating units are part of the Albemarle Group's global specialties organization. The Albemarle Group is a world-leading manufacturer of lithium compounds and a major producer of lithium raw materials. The Albemarle Group employs over 9,000 people worldwide. Other business areas include bromine and bromine-based products as well as catalysts, which are produced and sold under the Ketjen brand. For our Langelsheim production site, we are looking for a

EU Procurement Manager (m/f/d)

for the Supply Chain department as soon as possible.

Our global procurement organization includes the following areas:

(1) Category Management focuses on creating long-term and sustainable value for the company

(2) Procurement Operations offers support and advice to our stakeholders in the business areas

(3) Data Analytics is responsible for process excellence and technology implementation to drive best practices in procurement

Main tasks

The Procurement Manager is responsible for strategic & regional procurement, as well as supplier management of raw materials and indirect materials required to support Albemarle's lithium production operations in Germany. The position holder primarily works closely with the site management and the global supply chain team with the aim of defining and implementing a procurement strategy for local and globally used direct and indirect materials. The Procurement Manager has one direct report supporting indirect material procurement.

The position holder is responsible for the following tasks

Define, optimize and implement procurement and raw material supply strategies for our production facility in Langelsheim

Ensure long-term raw material supply strategies at optimal quality, cost and risk profiles, according to forecast production needs, using responsible procurement and supplier management processes (e.g. procurement planning, tenders, negotiations, e-procurement, strategic collaboration)

Work with product management, product development and production to identify, qualify and secure raw materials in a timely manner and review current material specifications and supplies while identifying alternatives to avoid sole procurement

Plan and execute supplier negotiations and supplier management

Ensure effective risk management across the entire supply and vendor base through sound contract management and monitoring on-time, complete and specified material deliveries

Maintain optimal inventory management (balancing reliable operations, strategic supplier integration and working capital optimization), financial, logistics and sustainability metrics and other KPIs. Implement corrective actions as required

Act as a liaison between the Global Business Unit and local stakeholders and suppliers on changing business requirements (e.g. specifications, volume changes, etc.) and their impact on category/material strategies

Identify opportunities and barriers related to local and regional strategies and proactively identify alternative strategies where necessary

Your profile

Completed business or technical degree

At least 6 years of experience in strategic procurement, procurement management of industrial production materials, with knowledge of the most important procurement processes, category management, strategic procurement, negotiation and contract management

Ability to interact with different management levels internally and externally

Strong skills in project management, prioritization and decision-making

Fluent German and English

Comprehensive knowledge of SAP and the MS Office package
