Job Description
The Facilities Technician is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs to a School in Boston. This includes but is not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and all other building systems.
ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on mechanical systems equipment.Inspect buildings, equipment, and grounds for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.Perform Operations & Maintenance (O&M) on a broad range of equipment utilizing results-oriented strategies to ensure continuing operation.Perform or assist in the installation and modification of building equipment systems.Ensure the safety of the building's faculty, students, and the continuous operation of the site.Prioritize service calls and follow up upon completion.Complete work requests from the School Dude system.Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend equipment/service upgrades.Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians when work cannot be performed in-house.Order parts and supplies as required, and maintain stock and inventory control.Prepare and maintain maintenance logs and records.Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations.Respond to staff complaints in the areas of safety, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental needs through the work order systems.Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of all work areas.Participate in traffic control activities during drop-off and pick-up periods as well as during events to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and school guests.Participate in the setup, breakdown, and management of school events.Perform various landscaping duties, including snow removal to provide safe passage for all staff.Participate in a wide range of Facilities tasks as undertaken by the department.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities & Construction.Essential Skills2-4 years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer.Experience in light electrical, light plumbing, and light carpentry.Great communication skills.Go-getter attitude.Team player.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to perform office setup tasks.Jack of all trades.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
This position is located at a private school with one building that has five connected editions, totaling 300,000 SQ FT. The building features a mix of new construction and old architecture. The facility team consists of 8 members plus the Facility Manager. Work hours are 8am-4pm during the summer and either 10-6 or 7-3:30 during the school season. The team uses the School Dude work order system and has an on-call rotation only during snowstorms.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00
