Event Planning Intern for the Supplier Diversity Office (SDO)
Description

Overview:
The Supplier Diversity Office (SDO) is an agency within the Executive Office for Administration and Finance of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with a mission of serving diverse and small businesses and agencies of the Commonwealth.The mission of the SDO is to serve minorities, women, veterans, service-disabled veterans, disabled, LGBT-owned, and small businesses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including the responsibility to certify eligible businesses. The SDO is seeking an intern to support event planning initiatives within the Programs Engagement unit. This intern will work with the Director of Programs Engagement and department staff to coordinate events such as business resource fairs and online workshops.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

· Research and create a directory of public event venues for future use.

· Coordinate and attend internal and external meetings to gather event requirements.

· Collaborate with Programs Engagement team members to execute events for SDO-certified businesses.

· Manage administrative tasks related to event planning such as drafting invitations and tracking RSVPs.

· Other duties, as assigned by SDO’s Director of Programs Engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will:

· Be able to write clearly.

· Be comfortable communicating via telephone and email.

· Have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills and experience, especially related to demonstrating confidence and executive presence in public settings.

· Be extremely organized and able to work with deadlines.

· Be passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion and public service.

· Be customer-focused and have the ability towork with people from diverse backgrounds.

· Be competentwith common software applications, such as Microsoft Office.

Schedule: estimated 20 to 30 hours per week
Shift: Day
Hourly rate: $17 to $35 per hour
Estimated Start Date: January 2025
End Date: June 2025
