The Event Technology Coordinator at UAlbany's Campus Center is responsible for overseeing the daily technical operations and support for events and activities within the Campus Center. This role includes managing audio/visual (A/V) equipment, supervising student technical staff, ensuring equipment functionality and availability, and collaborating with various departments to provide quality services. The position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of events, supporting technical needs, and maintaining an environment that is safe, accessible, and welcoming for the university community.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Manage and supervise student technical staff, including scheduling, training, and ongoing education in live audio management. Provide leadership, oversight, and direction to direct reports to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the University's goals and strategies. Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication. Complete performance management feedback and goals timely and per requirements.
+ Oversee the operation and management of audio/visual equipment, including both digital and analog multitrack mixers, ensuring high-quality sound for live events.
+ Provide event support for audio/visual needs, perform sound checks, and resolve technical issues during events.
+ Maintain and update an inventory database, organize and evaluate audio/visual supplies, and make recommendations for equipment replacement.
+ Serve as a liaison between Campus Center Management and Information Technology Services (ITS), ensuring seamless technical support and communication.
+ Other reasonable duties as assigned.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships:
+ Reports to: Associate Director of Student Union
+ Supervises the following positions: Student Technical Services (Student Assistants/Work Study)
Job Requirements:
+ Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting audio/visual equipment, including mixers, amplifiers, microphones, projectors, and SmartTVs.
+ Strong understanding of signal paths, signal chains, and frequencies.
+ Experience in live event management, including sound level monitoring, dynamic control, and tonal effect application.
+ Ability to train and supervise student staff effectively.
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in inventory management and equipment maintenance.
+ Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Associates degree or higher from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
+ 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in managing audio/visual operations, preferably in live event settings.
+ 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably with college aged employees.
+ 2 to 4 years of experience working with Creston or Extron based Audio/Video systems.
+ Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ 1 to 2 years of experience in managing audio/visual operations and providing technical support in a higher education environment.
+ 2 to 4 years of graphic design or social media content creation.
Working Environment:
+ The position is primarily based in person in an office setting within the Campus Center, but it also involves active work in event spaces, requiring the ability to move equipment (40 lbs. or greater) and navigate various setups.
+ The role requires the physical ability to handle A/V equipment, sometimes in fast-paced or high-pressure environments, especially during live events. Mental agility is necessary to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently. The position may also require extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate event schedules.
Additional Information:
Professional Rank and Salary Range: Student Union Associate, SL-2, $50,000-$55,000
