Events Coordinator
Store - CHI-CHICAGO/CLARK ST, IL Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they’re looking for. Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed to deliver our Brand Promises. **Event Coordination** + Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events. + Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity. + Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities. + Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards. + Communicate events with clients and store team members. + Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed. + Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs. + Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed. + Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events. + Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event. **Customer Experience** + Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions. + Provide fast and friendly check out experience. + Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments. + Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey. + Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) + Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes. + Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance. + Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned. + Support shrink and safety programs + Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards. + Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members + Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production. + Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms **Other duties as assigned** **Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities** **Preferred Type of experience the job requires** + Energetic and enthusiastic and personality. + The ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others, including guests of all ages and co-workers, are essential functions of the job. + Must have excellent people skills. + Must have experience working with children and children’s events. + Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills. + Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills. + Retail and/or customer service experience required **Physical Requirements** **Work Environment** + Ability to remain standing for long periods of time. + Ability to move throughout the store. + Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching. + Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment + If you need help performing these essential functions of your job, please contact your supervisor so that we may engage in the interactive process with you to determine if a reasonable accommodation is available. + Public retail store setting taking care of our customers; all public areas are climate controlled; some stock rooms may not be climate controlled; some outdoor work if assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks; Frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press; work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings **Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.** At The Michaels Companies Inc, **our purpose is to fuel the joy of creativity** .
