Requirements The Tech & Society Initiative at Georgetown University is seeking a highly organized and experienced Event Planner to oversee and manage all aspects of event planning and execution for Tech & Society — a consortium of centers at the University that address issues around technology. This position manages and executes events sponsored by the overarching network, as well as selected events for individual centers. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned event planner who can participate in developing the vision for an event, and can then bring it to life. The successful candidate must be able to collaborate effectively with member centers, work independently, manage their workflow, communicate clearly and effectively, and have strong attention to detail. Duties include but are not limited to: + Plan and execute a diverse range of events with varying audiences and levels of formality and size. + Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to deliver exceptional events. + Serve as the “space master," ensuring optimal utilization of various event spaces across the campus, including managing T&S shared spaces. + Develop an understanding of external event spaces and vendors that can meet the needs of the Tech & Society Initiative (and its contributing programs). + Manage a small team of student workers and volunteers in executing various events. Work Interactions This position reports directly to the Tech & Society’s Managing Director, who will designate the events that will fall under this role’s remit. They will also work directly with staff at each of the T&S member organizations for selected events, based on availability determined by the Managing Director, in the scoping and implementation of events. The work performed will be integral to the success of the Technology and Society Initiative and its vibrant network. Requirements and Qualifications The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience) in event planning and management, with a proven track record of handling diverse and high-profile events, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience; Work experience in higher education preferred + Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders + Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple events and deadlines simultaneously + Adaptability to work with multiple centers and programs + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail + Excellent event-planning skills, including a working familiarity with logistics and A/V needs for supporting in-person, online and hybrid events + Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to take initiative including managing efforts independently + A familiarity with Georgetown spaces and systems — preferred, though not required Work Mode Designation This position has been designated as Hybrid. Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $44,022.00 - $73,406.80 Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
