Evidence Based Clinical Leader (E)

Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing Practice and Education oversees the education and implementation of evidence based practices initiatives as well as quality improvement initiatives. Assesses the education and training needs of all nursing department employees to assure competency in collaboration with Nurse Leaders, Performance Improvement Department and Patient Care Service Department. Also assesses the educational needs of the various departmental leaders pertaining to critical care/ED, MedSurg and Telemetry areas. Plans, coordinates, organizes and provides education and training to meet assessed needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of education and training provided. Trends and analyzes all programs for their impact on nursing practice and patient outcomes. Provides supervision, support, development and mentoring for all staff in the Critical care/ED, MedSurg and Telemetry areas. Works closely with the Director of Nursing Practice and Education, Nurses Leaders and other Med/Surg/Telemetry/ Critical Care/ ED Leaders to ensure that the mission and vision of the department is held to the highest standard and works towards accountability of that expectation. Can assist in covering any of the Critical care/ED, MedSurg/Telemetry Leaders during critical times.

Education: Graduate of accredited School of Nursing. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required/Masters preferred.

Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. Any other nursing certifications are beneficial. BLS required; ACLS preferred.

Experience: Five years of successful clinical and educational training experience. Managerial experience required. Experience in Critical Care, ED, MedSurg areas in an acute care setting required.

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Works in a well-lighted and well-ventilated area. Must meet annual safety training requirements relative to a safe work place. Must meet health-testing requirements annually. Frequent patient contact requires adherence to standard precautions at all times. Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves a variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, stretching and reaching. May be required to lift heavy objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
