Job Summary:

The EVS Technician assists residents by maintaining the cleanliness of the Manor at Seneca Hills, including resident areas and common areas.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Cleans and maintains all common areas and private resident areas of the Manor at Seneca Hills. Performs day to day cleaning including (but not limited to): Dust-mopping, mopping, wet-mopping, washing, waxing, polishing, vacuuming, spot cleaning, scrubbing of showers and bathrooms, sanitizing and emptying trash of floors, equipment, walls, ceilings, and windows. Selects cleaning materials and supplies. Prepares solutions to meet the needs of the cleaning tasks; load and transport service cart to work area. Return unused supplies to proper area. Clean assigned areas including (but not limited to): high dust vents, cabinets, furnishings, floors and equipment, walls, ceilings, and inside windows with cleaning solutions per policy. Complete all assignments in a timely manner; work on ongoing projects as assigned; assist others as requested; adapt to changes in the work load as needed. Rearrange furniture and equipment after cleaning the area. Replenish supplies as needed: paper towels, toilet tissue, soap and other as needed: request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed; maintains clean, orderly, stocked utility carts. Collect waste from areas as assigned; sanitize all trash containers. Maintains clean and orderly equipment storage after usage; assures that all equipment is safe and in proper working order, notifies supervisor of any concerns. Ensures proper disposal of hazardous/infectious waste according to company policy. Notifies maintenance of any safety hazards or repairs needed. Maintains considerate, helpful attitude towards resident’s visitors and other staff. Practices infection control principles in cleaning methods and personal hygiene; practices safe use of equipment, chemicals, tools, and utensils. Complies with state and federal safety health regulations. Establishes and maintains constructive working relationships and communication with co-workers, residents, volunteers, and families. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities (Unit Specific):

Ability to follow detailed instructions. Neat appearance, good personal hygiene. Ability to cost-effectively manage resources and supplies. Ability to learn and follow safety policies and procedures. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to easily adapt to changes in job responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

Reading, writing and comprehension at a 6th grade level or better. Experience or interest in working with older adults.

Working Conditions:

Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending. Occasionally requires assembling, using and maintaining all departmental equipment. Ability to bend or kneel for up to 15 consecutive minutes to perform cleaning tasks. Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. using proper body mechanics and/or available equipment. Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and supplies. Ability to work 3-3.75 hours standing, walking, moving about without needing to sit down. Follows principles of infection control and standard precautions while performing job functions; references MSDS. Actively participates in Quality Assurance programs and CQI, in-service programs, cross-training; accepts assignments to other units/shifts as facility needs require; attends all mandatory classes as required; completes unit-specific competencies. Participates in policy and procedure revisions as needed; reviews departmental policies and procedures at least annually. Complies with DOH requirements for annual health assessments and required immunizations.

Pay Range: $15.45-$17.00/hr

Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
