Position Title:   Executive Director – Office of Campus Culture and Climate

Department:    Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Reports to:       Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Appointment:   Full-Time; 40 hours per week/12 months

Status:              Exempt

Position Summary:

The Executive Director for the Office of Campus Culture and Climate is a 12-month management position within newly formed division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and will report to the inaugural Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership for developing and implementing a comprehensive training and assessment protocol to advance a culturally competent Bradley University. These training and assessment initiatives are critical to support Bradley University’s first strategic goal – Ensuring a Welcoming, Caring, Diverse, and Inclusive Bradley University.

The incumbent will be expected to develop a comprehensive schedule of relevant, timely, and effective training for the students, faculty, and staff members of Bradley University. This includes preparing, conducting, and evaluating training activities and related initiatives. Further, the Executive Director will develop content, participant materials, and follow-up activities to ensure that training is ongoing, and remains relevant to meet the outcomes of the university strategic plan. Finally, related to training, the Executive Director will work with university leadership to develop critical policies for student and employee training – both required and optional.

The Executive Director will work collaboratively with Bradley University Offices of Inclusive Excellence, Institutional Excellence, Sponsored Programs, and other university officials to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to DEI, including graduation, hiring, retention, promotion, persistence, and other areas critical to students and employees belonging to historically excluded populations (race, ethnicity, low-SES, gender, orientation, identity, religion, caste, etc.), and develop related trainings. The Executive Director will collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and administrators to design and implement programs and interventions that continuously assess campus climate as a whole, and within specific populations (e.g. – minority student satisfaction, employee satisfaction, communities of practice, etc.). The Executive Director will also develop and implement comprehensive protocols centered a BIAS Incident and Response Team process.

This will work with the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Executive Director of Inclusive Excellence, and the Title IX Coordinator to identify specific needs, opportunities, and related divisional goals.

The Executive Director will be expected to provide leadership in the following areas:

Diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings/workshops (50%)Strategic Planning and Assessment (10%)Collaboration with academic and non-academic units, including students and student organizations (20%)Serve on university committees (10%)Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (10%)

Required Knowledge and Experiences:        

An obsession with details, including identifying gaps and must have impeccable follow-throughMinimum of three to five years developing comprehensive training in the support and advocacy of constituents belonging to historically excluded, disadvantaged, and or marginalized populationsExperience delivering DEI trainings in various formats, including classrooms, one-on-one sessions, group sessions, in-person and/or virtual, etc.Experience with assessing, prioritizing, and evaluating claims of bias and discrimination, and developing appropriate plans to remedyExperience with survey design and data analysisExperience determining realistic timelines to address identified training needsExperience drafting workshops and training reports, summaries, and highlights, for internal and external utilizationDemonstrated understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods, and using these methods to assess culture and/or climateExperience utilizing institutional data to develop strategy to enhance outcomes related to diversity, equity, and inclusion – both for students and employeesEvidence of developed partnerships and collaborative initiatives within a university settingDemonstrated experience with the development of strategic, assessment and training plans – department and university-wideWillingness to offer trainings, workshops, and other programmatic during weekend and evening hours

Required Education:  Master’s Degree (Education, Education Statistics, Counseling, or related field)
