Job Description
This position is responsible for providing direct administrative support to the Provost. Specific duties include: reviewing, summarizing, prioritizing and expediting daily issues requiring the attention of the Provost, assisting in carrying out the broad management functions required by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and supervising a full-time classified position. This position has significant responsibility to ensure critical, confidential, and time-sensitive matters are handled appropriately and expeditiously, as well as, includes extensive interaction with various internal and external academic and nonacademic constituents.

Considerable knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques.
Working knowledge of PC-related software and information systems to include Microsoft Office products (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
Strong oral and written communication skills. Effective time management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated skill in proofreading documents to include the ability to pay close attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal direct supervision.
Demonstrated ability to maintain full confidentiality and be trustworthy.
Demonstrated ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to interpret, explain, and apply complex policies.

Level and type of experience
Considerable progressively responsible experience in an administrative support role for an executive level position (e.g. Dean, VP, CEO , President, etc.). Some supervisory experience.
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Some knowledge of Old Dominion University policies and procedures.
Some knowledge of Banner or equivalent relational database.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite software including charts, graphics and presentation software. Education, training and experience in a high-level administrative position. Considerable progressively responsible experience in an administrative support role for an executive level position in a college or university setting.
Familiarity with academic policies, procedures, environment and/or administration
Conditions of Employment
This is not a telework position.
Working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary commensurate with education and experience
