What You’ll Be Doing

As an Executive Director, Global Markets Central Funding Group (CFG), you will be responsible on behalf of Global Markets (GM) for bringing in alternative sources of funding.  As an active leader of the decision making process, you will work with Businesses, Clients, Sales/Distribution, Risk, Treasury and other Stakeholders in the development of alternative funding strategies and trade opportunities.  You will be part of a global team of dynamic, hardworking, production focused team players based in Toronto, NY and London.  The successful candidate will help to build and manage a CFG platform to focus on liability management activities, including collateral management, liquidity, risk management and driving technology projects designed to support the expanded CFG platform

How You’ll Succeed

The successful candidate will be accountable for the following core responsibilities

Develop and implement a framework for managing all aspects of funding across GM

This will include working with Treasury on internal funding availability and managing internal and external constraints

Work with Securities Lending/Global Credit Finance (GCF)/Sales/Distribution to develop sources of external funding and increase the use of self-financing alternatives. Build a global diversified client base of funding liquidity providers, i.e. banks, pension funds, asset managers

Responsibilities include building and enhancing internal funding capabilities and relevant risk policies, coordinating activities with Treasury  to ensure compliance with all internal and external regulatory framework requirements

Relationships with all stakeholders, Tax, Accounting, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Technology, etc

Work with senior leaders to build processes for specific funding and promote fair and transparent allocation of resources, strengthening the platform for continued growth.  Develop allocation model for benefits/costs to GM (FTP framework)

Ensure CFG’s build out of enhanced funding capabilities are managed through the Bank’s Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA) and the Capital Markets Operating Committee (CMOC)

Work in the spirit of transparency and collaboration with our partners in Capital Markets Risk and Treasury

Work effectively within CIBC’s corporate governance practices and policies to ensure all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputational issues and shareholder objectives are covered

Negotiating efficiency of Tri-Party platforms, lead technology requirements for improving and optimizing collateral allocations at Tri-Party agents and ensure that partners in Treasury are receiving the correct liquidity reporting

ABCP/Conduit management for funding with in Treasury’s liquidity framework

Management of Liquidity/Credit Risk Limits for CFG

Cross currency and Interest Rate Risk management

Contingent Funding risk mitigation

Work with operations to optimize assets for all collateral purposes

Ensure correct booking/pricing economics for financing transactions agreed and booked by Securities Lending/GCF

Point person to work with PSG on client financing needs and provide financing axes to Securities Lending/GCF

Work with teams across Global Markets to improve data analytics, resource reporting and infrastructure projects

Who You Are

Would have minimum (10+ years) experience in Capital Markets with a focus on funding, financing and collateral markets

Have detailed experience of repo, securities lending, ABCP, synthetic and tri-party custodial arrangements

Have a broad knowledge of funding markets, strategies and opportunities across asset class, i.e. Prime Brokerage and Structured Credit

Understanding of regulatory capital, funding and liquidity metrics (RWA, Leverage, LCR, NSFR) and their application to structuring financing transactions

Have a risk mindsight, encompassing Liquidity, Credit and Market risk.

Strategic thinking capability with ability to identify trends and exploit opportunities

Advanced communication skills across business lines

Attention to detail, ability to analyze vast amounts of data

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of USD$250,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
