The Life Sciences Technical Operations Director is a highly influential and strategic role within JLL's Work Dynamics division. As the leader of engineering operations in the Life Sciences sector, you will be responsible for providing thought leadership, engineering solutions, and subject matter expertise to support the Americas region. This role will have a significant impact on shaping and driving engineering operations across a diverse portfolio of projects and accounts. 

Responsibilities: 

Lead a community of engineering practitioners in the Life Sciences sector, overseeing talent management and development initiatives for key engineering talent in the region. 

Collaborate closely with the Global Engineering Lead to develop a strategic roadmap for upgrading engineering talent to support the unique needs of the Life Sciences sector. 

Define and deploy service delivery standards for engineering products in the Life Sciences sector, incorporating operational feedback from the field into product development. 

Manage technical platform while selling its benefits to bring innovation to life sciences operations. 

Support accounts in achieving productivity targets in collaboration with account leadership teams in the Life Sciences sector. 

Implement the global Operational Risk Management framework for engineering services in the Life Sciences sector, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. 

Assume personal leadership in case of major service delivery failures in conjunction with senior account leadership in the Life Sciences sector. 

Support sales efforts by identifying expansion opportunities, costing non-standard client requests, and contributing to client pitches and sales/renewal strategies. 

Identify and share best practices globally to drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering community in the Life Sciences sector. 

Engineering Leadership: 

Establish and manage infrastructure and subject matter expertise to support Life Sciences clients and JLL teams, specifically in the field of engineering and technical services. 

Lead the strategic engagement of the engineering function with Technology, HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment), Quality & Compliance, and Sourcing & Procurement, ensuring synergy in cross-functional initiatives. 

Provide leadership and guidance to Engineering Managers and Leaders across accounts, ensuring the deployment of best practices, policies, and procedures in the realm of engineering. 

Foster the development and sustainment of a high-quality and highly motivated team within the Life Sciences sector. 

Client/Stakeholder Management: 

Build strong visibility and relationships with Division Presidents and key leaders in the Life Sciences sector. 

Engage key client account teams proactively to drive platform programs, best practices, and engineering subject matter support. 

Develop and leverage relationships with key supplier partners in the Life Sciences sector. 

Risk Management: 

Ensure alignment and compliance to established Policies and Standard Operating Procedures for the management of Engineering services across all accounts in the Life Sciences sector, collaborating with Quality & Compliance and HSSE. 

Establish a Safe Systems of Work adherence and governance process for all accounts in the Life Sciences sector, particularly for high-risk engineering work in collaboration with HSSE. 

Work closely with Technology, Quality & Compliance, and HSSE to effectively manage statutory compliance requirements in engineering maintenance within the Life Sciences sector. 

Ensure adoption and adherence of Incident Management processes, analyze engineering incident and near miss records, and identify trends to drive risk management strategies and programs. 

Engage and support account teams as a subject matter expert in managing incidents and ensuring root cause analysis (RCAs) for high severity engineering incidents.

Commercially astute and able to leverage different levers to drive growth and increase productivity. 

Transformational leadership skills with the ability to lead change, make complex decisions, take calculated risks, and adjust leadership style to accommodate individuals and different phases of growth. 

Operational expertise and experience working with complex, large, and heavily matrixed organizations within the Life Sciences sector. 

Requirements: 

Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or MBA preferred. 

15-20 years of significant experience in the engineering field, preferably related to facilities management and commercial real estate within the Life Sciences sector. 

Understanding of the business side of engineering, including financial management, budgeting, and cost control. 

In-depth knowledge and experience in areas such as manufacturing, construction, energy, technology, or automotive, depending on the nature of the Life Sciences sector. 

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Estimated total compensation for this position:

225,000.00 – 275,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
