The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking an Executive Director for the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) and Master of Science in Management (MSM) programs. This role involves leading both the full-time (on-campus) and part-time (online) MSBA programs, as well as the full-time MSM program, and directly contributes to the growth, success, and strategic direction of these programs.
The Executive Director will drive the programs' reputation, growth, and sustainability, working in close collaboration with a team of functional experts in admissions, marketing, student services, career services, and leadership development. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Masters Programs, the Executive Director will shape the strategic vision and work cross-functionally to achieve student success, strong program enrollment, and meaningful alumni and corporate partnerships.
Core responsibilities include:1. Program Management and Leadership:
Oversee and ensure the operational success and integrity of the MSBA (full-time and part-time) and MSM programs. Develop and execute strategic plans to meet enrollment, reputation, and revenue goals.
Work collaboratively with faculty, the Associate Dean, and the program management team to enhance curriculum, student experience, and alignment with industry trends. Responsible for the sourcing and staffing of the capstone projects in partnership with the instructor of record. The director ensures that capstone sourcing is on schedule, gathers feedback from clients and nurtures relationships with capstone clients.
2. Student and Faculty Engagement:
Build a high-quality academic and co-curricular experience for students, fostering community, leadership, and career development through events, activities, and networking opportunities.
Act as the primary liaison between students, faculty, and program management, providing student advocacy and support throughout admission, orientation, academic progress, and career placement.
3. Industry and Alumni Relations:
Serve as the external face of the MSBA and MSM programs, representing Tepper at conferences, alumni events, and other external engagements. Foster connections with industry professionals, alumni, and corporate partners to expand student opportunities and program visibility.
4. Marketing and Admissions Support:
Collaborate with the marketing and admissions teams to drive program promotion and enrollment growth. Develop strategic initiatives to reach target enrollment and maintain the program’s reputation as a leader in the business analytics and management fields.
Role in a Matrixed StructureThe Executive Director will lead within a matrixed environment, working closely with a team of specialized professionals in marketing, admissions, student services, and career development. Success in this role requires an ability to guide cross-functional teams toward shared goals, adapt to varying student and program needs, and foster collaborative relationships.
Metrics of SuccessAchieve target enrollment and retention goals across MSBA and MSM programs.
Maintain high student satisfaction and program rankings, fostering a reputation for excellence in the business analytics and management space.
Build strong alumni and corporate relationships that enhance the program's reach and impact.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree required; a Master’s degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in academic program administration or related field in a matrixed organization.
Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
Experience working with international students and online programs preferred
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
