Job Description 
The Executive Director Software Engineering – PCW will be responsible for overseeing the pharmacy platform modernization and other strategic initiatives and ensuring the successful execution of engineering programs. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong technical background, exceptional management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

Leadership: the ability to inspire your teammates to deliver quality software solutionsLead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers in modernizing our core pharmacy platformEmbrace and incubate emerging technology and open-source products across all platforms.Work in a startup mindset to modernize our existing tech stacksCollaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and machine learningPartner with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the implementation of new solutions and applicationsWork within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across mobile and web full-stack development tools and technologiesLead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into cloud environments – AWS, GCP and AzureConduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standardsEncourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversityDevelop proof of concepts and ensure their successful transition to production, maintaining the highest standards of security and qualityCollaborate with engineering teams on setting technical direction and ensure alignment with our technology strategyDrive scale & reuse by leveraging platforms and capabilitiesAccelerate & increase efficiency by continuously improving engineering & operations practicesEngage as a Subject Matter Expert, staying abreast of and contributing to external industry trends, advancements, and innovations in technical areas of expertiseTechnology research and innovation to develop long term roadmap based on emerging trends in healthcare and digital technologies


Required Qualifications

12+ years’ experience in systems analysis and application program development.10+ years’ experience managing large software development teams2+ years hands on experience in building highly available application of GCP using cloud spanner, dataflow , GKE etc Cloud run working experience will be bonus5+ years’ experience as a leader of Digital engineering where Digital contributes 25% of overall revenueExtensive knowledge of the system development life cycle, systems, and application program development alternatives.Proven leadership experience setting strategic direction and influencing change that resulted in quantifiable positive outcomes.We're looking for highly motivated individuals who work well in an iterative and fast-paced environmentAbility to attract and recruit the industry’s best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure that we build compelling, customer-oriented solutions in an iterative methodology.Technologist: Strong engineering and technology background with the ability to learn quickly and go deep into our product and engineering solutionsEffective Communication: Excellent listener; proven collaborator with superiors, peers and staffPartnership Attitude: Have the competencies to build very strong partnerships with other technology leaders that enable your team's ability to stay on the leading edge of industry solutionsCurious: Hands-on, roll up your sleeves collaborative style of workingAdvanced working knowledge of omni channel stack including NodeJS, Angular, TypeScript, Mobile Native tech (Swift, Kotlin) utilizing automation Tools/Frameworks (Mocha, Jasmine, Selenium, Protractor) and deployed via continuous delivery infrastructure (Jenkins, Concourse)API Design & Development and Microservices ArchitectureAdvanced knowledge of cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)Deep understanding of agile and strategies for maximizing the effectiveness of the methodology through best practices, coaching and continuous improvementAuthenticity and personal commitment to coach engineers across multiple levels, craft frameworks for skills progression, influence careers, and build leadership skillsProven track record, inspiring the creativity and innovation of your teams, creating a culture of inclusion, experimentation, exploration, and continuous learningAbility to effectively connect with and influence all levels of the organization and motivate changeAbility to negotiate and influence for favorable outcomes even at the most senior levelPossess a deep understanding of secure development practices and their implementation


Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the healthcare industryExperience managing off-shore development


Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and years of experience required.
Master’s degree preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$175,100.00 - $334,800.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
