The American Red Cross is currently seeking an Executive Director to support our Northern Nevada Chapter. Based in Reno/Sparks area.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
We are currently seeking a professional, innovative, and enthusiastic Executive Director for our Northern Nevada Chapter. Our offices ar located in Reno but this position supports twelve counties in Central and Northern NV. This positions is an external-facing role that focusses on community relations/capacity building(focused in areas requiring more resiliency), fundraising and board leadership. This candidate must be comfortable being the face of the Red Cross in the Northern Nevada Region. This position is responsible for supporting region-partnered mission initiatives by providing facilitative leadership to local teams and updating regional leadership of the communities needs and perceptions. Incumbents will also be responsible for strengthening relationships with our community partners by educating them on the programs and opportunities that the American Red Cross has to offer. The Executive Director in this region is responsible for strong regional engagement and fundraising goals set by the National Headquarters team. This position reports to the Regional Executive and serves as the primary liaison to the community and is supported by Community Volunteer Leaders and the Chapter Board.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:
1. Serves as the Face of the Red Cross to maximize Red Cross presence and connectivity in the community and expand the community’s recognition of the breadth of the Red Cross's contribution to the community.
2. Develops sustained community relationships to ensure the capacity to achieve regional mission goals.
3. Responsible for the fundraising activities and goal obtainment for the region.
4. Develops and manages the chapter board to effectively mobilize support and resources around the Red Cross mission.
5. Develops and manages community volunteer leaders to: serve as the Face of the Red Cross in assigned territories; to support mission capacity building by developing key community partnerships; and to recruit volunteers.
6. Influences to create an environment of teamwork and inclusion to effectively deliver against the Red Cross mission and needs of the community. Serves, when assigned, as a member of the Elected Officials Liaison Network supporting disaster responses across the nation.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and work experience.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to lead a team, proven track record in fundraising, and strong communication skills including media relations/spokesperson.
Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state, and the Red Cross system.
Drive: Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record.
*Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to the description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Physical Requirements
Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. This may include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.
