Executive Director for Academic Affairs Operations
Location: Saratoga Springs, NY Category: Management / Confidential Posted On: Mon Mar 10 2025 Job Description: Empire State University seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Executive Director for Academic Affairs Operations. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative, financial, and operational activities within the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) and will serve as a confidential advisor to the Provost. The Executive Director will work closely with the Provost and other senior leaders to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness while sustaining a culture of service and professionalism in support of the university's academic mission. Responsibilities Include: + Project Management - Lead and coordinate cross-functional academic projects and initiatives on behalf of the Provost. Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and tracking tools to monitor progress. + Budget Management - Oversee the fiscal operations for Academic Affairs, including the preparation and management of the yearly budget(s) for the division in collaboration with the Finance Office, which includes all operating and strategic funding. + Operations Coordination - Oversee daily administrative and business operations. Responsible for assessing and improving the current OAA team operations structure, practices, and communications to achieve the long-term vision and goals. Serve as the primary point of contact for operational issues, addressing faculty, staff, and student concerns. + Strategic Planning and Leadership - Coordinate, manage, and report on the progress associated with implementing tactical and organizational assessment and strategic initiatives across the division. Re-assess or re-align goals and objectives associated with the strategic plan based on data-driven recommendations as necessary on behalf of the division. + Policy Development - Assist in Academic Affairs policy development and liaise with the President's Office on policy and procedural matters that relate to the Office of Academic Affairs. + Team Management and Development - Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture. Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: + Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. + At least three (3) years of progressive experience in a complex organization, specifically involving project management, budget oversight, or operations management. + Demonstrated success in driving projects to completion on time and within scope. Preferred Qualifications: + Familiarity with academic affairs functions and higher education governance structures. + Strong oral and written communication skills. + Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. + Excellent organizational skills for handling multiple priorities. Special Information: + The position will be located in Saratoga Springs, NY. + Ability to travel throughout New York State as needed. + Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
