The Office of Enrollment Management comprises five functional areas, including the Office of Admission, the HUB, University Registrar’s Office, Student Financials and Enrollment Systems, and the Office of International Education. All of these areas work together to provide students, families and the campus community with student support and administrative services from the time of recruitment, to enrollment and all the way through graduation.
We are seeking an Executive Director of Admission. Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment Innovation and Interim Associate Dean of Admission, the Executive Director of Admission is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Office of Admission. This position is responsible for assisting the Associate Dean in managing all recruitment efforts while overseeing the office day-to-day operations, including staffing and scheduling. The Office of Admission strategically leads University efforts in recruiting, admitting, and enrolling an academically talented, geographic, socioeconomic, and holistically diverse undergraduate class currently representing forty-six states and twenty-nine countries.
The Executive Director will directly supervise the teams responsible for prospective undergraduate student recruitment, admission review, travel, yield, and support with the ultimate responsibility for an office of approximately fifteen full-time professional employees. The Executive Director will recruit when needed.
Core responsibilities include:
Assist with the development of strategic recruitment plans and support the implementation of these plans throughout the Undergraduate Admission team.Develop and monitor team metrics to ensure that operations are running smoothly.Ensure all campus visit experiences and admissions programs are fully staffed and run effectively to support the University’s recruitment and enrollment goals.Collaborate in leading cross-functional planning retreats with a focus on process improvement and new initiatives.Collaborate with campus partners to ensure cohesive relationships in executing and delivering experiences for students throughout the pipeline.Oversee and troubleshoot day-to-day operations of the admission office functions.Participate fully in the admission/selection of undergraduate students admitted to the University.Responsible for the recruitment, training, retention, and evaluation of a world-class Admission staff.Troubleshoot high-level problems and issues concerning admission and other University policies and procedures.Keep up-to-date on national, international, local, and campus issues around enrollment and the potential impacts on the work of the office.Participate in enrollment strategy development conversations, target setting, and post-action assessments.Interview prospective students; meet parents who may be identified as employees, alumni, and other important friends or guests of the university.Lead regularly occurring staff meetings and admission planning retreats to focus on office progress and development, process improvement, staff development and training, and new and innovative initiatives.Oversee the administration of recruitment and yield events in close collaboration with other Enrollment Management offices and campus partners.Participate fully in the admission/selection, financial aid analysis, and packaging processes of students admitted to the University.Serve as a leader in providing advice and counseling for all staff in the admission office.Assist in the creation and lead the execution of strategy for remote and virtual recruitment and yield events.Provide direction and share in the strategy for the Office of Admission diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.Represent Carnegie Mellon University at professional conferences, college programs, and other travel as needed by the university.Serve in the interim for any liaison position in the Office of Admission when needed.Support the admission strategy fully when called upon to do so.Travel domestically and internationally to recruit students and inform them of educational opportunities available at Carnegie Mellon University.Flexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Enrollment Management.
