Under the supervision of the Associate Vice President for Research Operations and Finance (AVPROF), the Executive Director of Grants & Contracts interacts with other functional areas to assess, monitor, and manage the institution’s grant and contracts portfolio in a manner consistent with School objectives. The Executive Director of Grants & Contracts is responsible for supervising, organizing and managing the daily activities of grants accounting including ensuring appropriate internal control structure and compliance efforts are established for the Grants and Contracts area for proper recording of all accounting transactions, reporting, cash compliance, invoicing, and other grants management and compliance efforts.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university,
Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in grants and contracts administration and financial analysis Minimum of five (5) years managerial/ supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in business or related field. Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or Certified Financial Research Administrator (CFRA) Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP Experience with Cayuse Research Administration Suite Knowledge of grants policies, federal draw systems, and Research.gov; Membership in the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) or the Society of Research Administrators International (SRA);

Job Duties Description of Job Duty Directs and oversees all post award grants and contracts activities, by coordinating the timely submission of sponsored projects and reports, compiling and disseminating appropriate project data, and overseeing daily practices to ensure compliance with Institution and sponsor policy. Possesses strong knowledge of and expertise in policies and best practices for managing federal and non-federal grants and contracts in higher education as well as healthcare context Gathers data and analyzes information to provide recommendations and optimizes the use of all funding sources Manages financial operations of grant funding. Monitors expenses, tracks balance, conducts variance analysis, and projects burn rate and future utilization. Oversees all grants management activities, such as financial monitoring and reporting, reconciliation of accounts; monthly and annual close; supports financial audits using Institution accounting systems. Ensures completion of regular financial attestations and other reports. Ensures federal grant reports, invoicing, reimbursements are processed accurately and in a timely manner; confirms all grants and contracts are closed-out appropriately. Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves complex grants administrative issues; keeps AVPROF apprised / escalates as appropriate. Identifies opportunities to streamline workflow to improve performance; develops and delivers training for team members. Manages staff within the grants team to ensure high performing and collaborative team members. Establishes and manages performance goals for grant team to ensure effectively coordinated and administered grants and budgets. In conjunction with the AVPROF and Budget Office, directs and implements ongoing budget planning processes and the development of long-term budget plans and analyses for grant portfolio. Prepares information for executive level presentations as required and performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
