Job Summary 

 

The Executive Director, YSS has responsibility for the development, integration, execution, and measurement of programs and services within the areas of mental health, prevention education, and social emotional learning throughout the state. The position will lead the youth support services team, manage all funding and reporting requirements, and oversee the effective implementation of all programs, services, and strategies within the department. The Executive Director will participate in Core Operations Leadership Team meetings and collaborate with COLT members to ensure alignment of strategy across Clubs throughout the state. The position will initiate strategic partnerships with external organizations and support the acquisition and management of related grants and other funding. 

 

Note: This position is supported by grant funds through December 2026. We actively seek additional opportunities for long-term funding for Youth Support Services as a reflection of our commitment to mental health, prevention, and social emotional learning programs and services.

Responsibilities

Program Development and Supervision (50%): 

 

Provide leadership, supervision, and development of Youth Support Services TeamsLead statewide development and incorporation of strategies, resources, activities, and assessments in the areas of mental health, prevention, and social emotional learningDevelop and implement sound practices for measuring program impact and qualityEnsure team consistently works to build capacity and research best practices as a part of an intentional ongoing strategy for program improvementDevelop annual program plan and program goals in collaboration other operations leaders Plan and lead organizational staff training for YSS strategies (ex. trauma-informed, social emotional learning, behavior management, prevention programming)

 

Strategic Leadership (15%): 

 

Play a leadership role (in collaboration with VPOs and designated operations leaders) to develop the vision and strategy for delivery of all programs and services related YSS.Oversees, assesses, and continually improves service delivery to youth in assigned program areas in coordination with VPOs to maximize resources, seeking continual improvement. Develop strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships to enhance program effectiveness and strengthen the presence of the Club in the community in coordination with directors and VPOs. Actively participate as a member of the Core Operations Leadership Team, Program Committee, and other administrative and leadership Committees as needed or directed.Resource Management (25%): Lead all grant management processes related to youth support servicesCoordinate with the resource development team to research and seek grants and other funding related to assigned program areas In consultation with marketing and communications, develop strategies for promoting programs and services provided by YSS Develop and manage program budgets and partner with VPOs to align spending and revenue goals; this should include the effective use of staff resources; budget responsibility for grant-funded projects, leagues, and other designated initiatives 

 

Relationships (10%): 

 

Partner with regional VPOs and other operations leaders to provide strong leadership for the organization and support effective services to teens. Develops strong relationships with volunteer and professional leadership. Works closely with Vice Presidents of Operations and other regional and state management in program and service delivery, efficiency, evaluation, and improvement Develops strong external collaborations and partnerships in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to help achieve vision and strategy. Qualifications

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

 

Experience in grant management and/or resource development; this includes data collection and data presentation.Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing operational systems, related experiences in finance, human resources, administrative, or resource developmentExperience using Microsoft Office software or similar platformMaster’s degree in social work and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in social work or related fieldMinimum of five (5) years of experience in management, administration and operation preferably at a Boys & Girls Club, school, or other nonprofit organizations.

 

 

Environmental and Working Conditions: 

 

Environmental and working conditions vary from indoors to outdoors; various meeting locations in and out of the Club; occasional statewide travel (e.g. training).  Employees are subject to transfer from one department to another and from one Club/School Site to another as the needs of the organization change.

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

 

Maintain a high energy level.Frequently lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 25 pounds when preparing rooms for activities.Typically bend, stoop, walk and sometimes run while interacting with children in various activities throughout the day.Ability to perform duties effectively under stressful conditions; ability to make decisions quickly and accurately with tact and impartialityAbility to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
