Executive Director Supply Chain Operations

Responsible for establishing and implementing operational goals, performance metrics, and standardized policies and procedures for supply chain teams at the system and entity levels. In collaboration with leadership, develops annual operating plans for assigned sites and ensures alignment with organizational objectives. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with product formularies, utilizing data analysis to support informed decision-making, and optimizing inventory management and supply chain processes. Oversees system inventory and par level management, supply ordering and replenishment, and the accuracy of shipping and receiving operations, ensuring the effective use of inventory management technologies. As the primary liaison between Supply Chain operations and affiliated partners across the UNC Health system, works closely with clinical and entity leadership to identify and implement strategic supply chain initiatives. This position reports directly to the System Vice President of Supply Chain. **Responsibilities:** 1. Directs the monitoring, analysis, and reporting of supply chain performance metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Focuses on quality, productivity, and operational excellence to drive continuous improvement. 2. Provides oversight and strategic direction for inventory management strategies and technologies across UNC Health’s supply locations. Ensures the optimal balance between clinical supply availability and fiscal integrity to support patient care and organizational goals. 3. Acts as the business owner for supply chain technologies aimed at optimizing inventory management, product tracking, and flow across UNC Health entities and clinics. Leads the adoption and implementation of innovative, technology-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency. 4. Leads and coordinates a cross-functional supply chain team responsible for operational functions across the UNC Health system. Promotes collaboration to ensure system-wide supply chain effectiveness and alignment with organizational priorities. 5. Serves as the primary liaison across the healthcare system, fostering alignment and collaboration with leadership at all levels. Builds strong relationships to advance supply chain initiatives and integrate system-wide strategies. 6. Oversees the management of UNC Health’s warehouse operations, logistics, and billing systems. Ensures the accurate, timely, and cost-effective delivery of supplies from the Shared Services Center to meet system demands. 7. Leads with transparency and purpose, inspiring teams to achieve UNC Health’s vision and mission. Creates an inclusive, collaborative workplace that supports professional growth, workforce engagement, and conflict resolution. Delegates responsibilities effectively, sets clear expectations, and holds team members accountable for results. Leads the budgeting process, prioritizing resources using cost-benefit analysis, monitoring expenditures, and adopting cost-effective strategies. **Qualifications** **Education Requirements:** ● Bachelor’s degree required. Master's degree in an appropriate discipline preferred **Licensure/Certification Requirements:** ● No licensure or certification required **Professional Experience Requirements:** ● Ten (10) years of relevant related experience, including five (7) years of relevant management experience. **Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:** • Strong analytical skills to evaluate ERP system data, identify supply chain opportunities, establish baselines, and track/report progress. • Expert understanding of supply chain information systems and their interrelationship with financial and clinical systems. • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. • Proven ability to build and lead high-functioning supply chain teams. • Demonstrated success in leading change and creating measurable value for a health system. • Effective leadership, organizational, mentoring, and team-building skills. • Ability to foster a culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional development. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex subjects to diverse stakeholders clearly and effectively. • Proven ability to forge lasting business relationships across a broad constituency. • Effective at facilitating work groups and collaborating with senior leaders in a team environment. • Strong knowledge of supply chain management best practices, distribution center operations, procure-to- pay processes, and value analysis. • Extensive experience in developing and implementing supply chain strategies. • Proficient in optimizing par levels, enhancing performance, and implementing process improvements. • General business acumen with the ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. • Strong understanding of organizational mission, vision, and values, with a commitment to ethical and transparent operations. • Proven ability to evaluate, develop, and implement performance improvement plans for supply chain activities. • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies to drive operational, quality, and financial outcomes. **Job Details** Legal Employer: NCHEALTH Entity: Shared Services Organization Unit: Supply Chain Work Type: Full Time Standard Hours Per Week: 40.00 Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.
