Job Summary The Executive Sous Chef position at Aviva in Sarasota, FL Sarasota’s only single-site, not-for-profit senior rental community offering a full continuum of care. This position.offers a unique opportunity to support the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. As an Executive Sous Chef, you will have the chance to prepare or direct the preparation of meals using corporate programs and guidelines, ensuring exceptional quality and cost-effectiveness. Key Responsibilities: + Assure compliance with all sanitation, ServSafe, safety, production, and merchandising requirements, working alongside the Executive Chef. + Motivate, train, develop, and direct the back-of-house employees to achieve operational objectives and ensure customer satisfaction. + Creatively prepare and present high-quality food items cost-effectively. + Assist in planning, ordering, inventory, and food preparation phases. + Manage cost controls and expenditures for the account. + Collaborate with marketing and culinary teams to introduce new culinary programs. + Perform any additional assigned duties. Qualifications: + B.S. Degree in Culinary Arts, Food Services Technology/Management, or related field; or A.O.S. Degree in Culinary Arts with additional specialized training. Equivalent experience will also be considered. + 3-5 years of relevant culinary experience. + Some experience in a senior living /assisted living environment is preferred. + Proficiency in various kitchen positions and stations. + Ability to think on your feet and adapt quickly. + Strong knowledge of food cost, product identification, and quality. + Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills. + Applied food service sanitation certification, SERVSAFE, and/or HACCP federal guideline certification. + Understanding of current culinary market trends and creative food presentation is preferred.
