Executive Support Specialist
Summary About the Position: The Executive Support Specialist for the Medical Readiness Command, East (MRC, East) serves as the focal point for coordinating planning efforts and developing comprehensive analysis to provide options for executive decision making; serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all administrative matters; and conducts comprehensive analyses of a wide diversity of organization functions and processes. Responsibilities Provides protocol guidance to enable Command to make decisions on meetings, ceremonies, and social events that are often highly visible, affect the national reputation of the Command, and contribute to the Command's rapport with other organizations. Requires a thorough knowledge of the Command's organizational structure, to include its interrelationships with major commands, other Department of Defense (DoD) components, other federal agencies, and the joint services. Develops detailed plans for each event including appropriate flags to display, conference or ceremonial arrangements, publicity requirements and support. Serves as travel coordinator, arranging travel for the Commanding General (CG), Chief of Staff (CoS), and Command Sergeant Major (CSM) ensuring travel meets all regulatory requirements and is efficient and cost effective. Serves as the Command Group’s central administrative support expert, providing guidance and coordinating the myriad of administrative and analysis functions. Secures foreign clearance and building access as needed in compliance with published guidance. Maintains executive control of the CG’s, CoS’, and CSM’s calendars including scheduling official, social appointments, travel, accepting and declining calendar requests and official invitations, with authority for commitment of time. Provides final quality assurance review of work products such as draft directives, decision papers, issue papers, and other correspondence prepared for the CG’s, CoS’, CSM’s, and the Executive Officer’s (XO) signature. Establishes and maintains rosters and distribution list for all direct reporting units and updates at least quarterly. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performs a variety of administrative staff functions, services, and advisement regarding administrative policies to a Command or equivalent level staff and subordinate offices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Manages and Organizes Information Organizational Awareness Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
