Control Management

Control Management, as a front-line group, delivers risk management and control effectiveness, routines, and expertise to Business Groups and Enterprise Functions (BG/EF) across the enterprise. Each BG/EF has a designated Control Management Executive, who collaborates with the head of the BG/EF and reports to the Chief Control Management Executive. Through clo​se partnership with the product, service model owners and business leaders, Control Manage​ment enables the development and maintenance of a strong control environment that leads to early identification and sustainable mitigation of risk.

Control Management is comprised into four different groups: Business Control Management, Functional Control Management, Central Control and Strategic Execution Office.

The Role

Each of Wells Fargo’s business groups and enterprise functions includes a dedicated Control Management team, led by a control management executive who is accountable to the company’s Chief Control Management Executive. This leadership role is part of the Business Control Management in the Control organization.

The Consumer Lending, Senior Control Management Executive reports to the Chief Control Executive for Wells Fargo and will serve as the key strategic partner to the Head of Consumer Lending. The Consumer Lending organization delivers a comprehensive suite of consumer lending products and services across Auto, Home Lending, Card and Merchant Services, Personal Lending and Retail Services, as well as enterprise leadership in the areas of Consumer Lending Shared Services, Enterprise Marketing and the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). The position will provide end to end thought leadership and oversight across the businesses along with their leadership team.

The Consumer Lending Control Management Senior Executive will serve as an important member of the Control Management organization and is accountable for assessing and ensuring effective risk management and control of Consumer Lending risks.

Responsibilities Include:

Lead a global team with employees spanning the United States, India and the Philippines.Be a key contributor to the Control Management and Business Group leadership team.Regularly attend and contribute to business, risk and control meetings with the Consumer Lending leadership.Supports the development and sustainability of a strong risk and control culture within the group.Escalates concerns and issues to senior leadership and the Board as appropriate, consistent with Wells Fargo’s Risk Management FrameworkProvides Front Line input to the establishment of enterprise risk programs to ensure risk factors are identified, mitigated, monitored and considered.Maintains a high-performing risk management and control organization. Ensures proper risk management staffing and expertise exists in the group and builds capabilities, processes and teams that meet heightened risk management expectations.Provides guidance and works closely with the leaders in the respective organizations and across the enterprise in the establishment of controls in alignment with Enterprise and functional policies and standards. Proactively counsels Consumer Lending leadership on new and emerging risks, issue management, and remediation and provides reporting on risks/controls/issues to the respective business leader and Independent Risk Management.Provide vision and set direction for multiple, high risk and high impact initiatives and teams to achieve long term strategic objectives with broad and companywide impact by sharing key insights across Consumer Lending to empower millions of customers to achieve their dreams by supporting the vision, strategy, and mindset, as well as activating that vision with supporting capabilities, frameworks, and technology.Provide strategic, long-term, risk compliant solutions to the most complex, companywide business challenges.Partner with leaders and other executives on the development of high risk, multi-year projects, strategies, goals, and business ventures.Develop long term, broad reaching business strategies for the consumer experience, as well as operational excellence.Contributes to development and execution of corporate strategy by providing information and recommendations to more experienced executives.Influence all management levels and provide expertise and other members of the executive team by presenting key information to support strategic decision making.Manage and prioritize allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in functional area. Ensure adherence to all elements of risk management and compliance accountability.Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet objectives and strategy.

The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Executives across the respective businesses and with other Control Executives in the development and execution of company risk management strategies.  Critical success factors will include the ability to develop effective and efficient partnerships with business and enterprise functions, provide insight into the regulatory climate, and identify trends which may present opportunities or reflect gaps in the Company’s strategic execution/direction.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of Risk Management or Business Controls experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.5+ years of Management experience.

Desired Qualifications

Outstanding executive communication skills, both written and verbal, with a track record of presenting to senior leaders and to management committees.Deep working knowledge of Consumer Lending type businesses and transformation across sales, operations, marketing and support.Substantial experience executing risk management programs, particularly operational risk programs (e.g., issue management and RCSA) and managing compliance and conduct risks.Understanding of best-practice risk management techniques across financial services industry.Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and understanding of how they are implemented, managed, and enforced.Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the business and enterprise Risk function.Proven leadership and change management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end to end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer objectives.Deep understanding and application of risk management framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type.Demonstrated leadership ability that embodies the Wells Fargo Vision and Values and leadership competencies.Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to assess and determine when to raise concerns and escalate.Proven ability to build and lead a high performing risk management organization in a matrixed environment, ensure proper staffing and expertise exists and can coach and enable others in risk management and risk ownership.Strong analytical ability used to identify risks and confidently raise issues, escalate early and engage in constructive credible challenge and will do so independently.Effective understanding and execution of risk management processes, including Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Enterprise Risk Identification & Assessment (ERIA) and Issues Management.Demonstrates the ability to make sound and informed decisions based upon facts and circumstances.Strong analytical ability used to identify risks and confidently raise issues and through proper statue and authority will counsel and escalate early and when necessary.Ability to analyze, problem solve with demonstrated excellence at identifying stakeholders, understanding needs, and driving decision- making/resolution through a consensus building approach.Implement solutions through written action plans, procedures and change management.Understand the impacts/benefits of emerging technologies (automation/machine learning/etc.) on the operating and control environment.Deep understanding of evolving governance processes and regulatory environments.Ability to fluently articulate strategy and operations; translating organizational strategies into clear objectives and action.Experience working horizontally across an organization and participating in enterprise-wide implementations of major policy and relevant risk programs.Demonstrated experience working in a rapidly changing and complex environment.Experience in management, risk identification/sizing, control design/effectiveness, root cause assessment, issue execution, customer remediation, policy implementation, governance. Proficient in risk management programs such as Business Continuity, Third Party, Records, Models, End User Computing, Privacy, Information Security, New Business Initiatives, Digital Properties, Policy & Regulation Change, Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Issue Management, Key Risk Indicators and Scenario Analysis.Knowledgeable in change management including business requirements, business cases, user acceptance testing, project delivery, software development lifecycle (SDLC), agile project management, and product management.Proven ability to quickly and easily assess current state practices, uncover process redundancies, identify risks, and devise process improvements; needed to mitigate identified gaps.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office: Teams, Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook.Bachelor’s degree required and advanced degree preferred.

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$276,400.00 - $645,000.00
