Under the direction of the Employee Wellness Manager, the Exercise Physiologist is responsible for the evaluating, educating, and training Blessing Wellness Center and Illini Fitness Center members. The Exercise Physiologist provides expertise in exercise equipment use, exercise prescription, and fitness program design. The Exercise Physiologist will administer exercise prescriptions designed to improve all aspects of physical health, accelerate recovery from injury, and assist clients who live with disabilities.  This position will work directly with patients of Blessing Health System who are referred by Blessing providers for exercise prescription. In addition, this position will be responsible for developing and delivering health and fitness education to various populations, including special patient populations, Blessing Health System employees, and community youth organizations. The Exercise Physiologist will conduct adult and youth group exercise classes, new member training sessions, and youth training sessions. 

This position requires providing services to adolescents, adults and geriatric clients in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS   Education/Training/Experience: REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in exercise science, kinesiology, or other exercise-related field. Must possess adequate knowledge of health appraisal techniques, risk factor identification and sub-maximal exercise testing. Demonstrate an understanding of the techniques for motivation, teaching, and counseling individuals to promote lifestyle changes. PREFERRED:  Two (2) or more years experience in health and wellness field License/Certifications/Special Requirements: Must be willing to obtain ACSM certification of Certified Exercise Physiologist within six (6) months of hire.
