Exercise Physiologist Pulmonary Diagnostics

Come join our pulmonary diagnostics department of Inova Fairfax as an Exercise Physiologist! This is a full time opportunity to be a part of a very cohesive, supportive and fun team.  We offer a 1:1 patient treatment model and a flexible schedule! Work 36 hours, a 4 9's and no weekends. The Exercise Physiologist works on a multidisciplinary team to care for patients and develop comprehensive care plans of agreed upon goals. To achieve the optimal health status for patients this role administers or supports diagnostics testing to support diagnosis and treatment plans and participates in a community effort to support chronic disease management. May include evaluating patient responses to prescribed treatment plans, testing and procedures and develop ongoing plans. 

Schedule:  THIS POSITION IS 36 HOURS A WEEK, 4, 9 HOUR SHIFTS

Job Responsibilities:

 

Develops exercise prescription and risk factor modification by incorporating comorbidity and musculoskeletal disorders, per established program (ACCVPR, ACSM, ATS, ACC, NASM) standards and guidelines, as evidenced by random chart review.Develops Individual Treatment Plans through physical assessment and testing to include exercise and strength training programs, patient education and behavioral health support specific to each patient to achieve optimal outcomes for each patient.Administers or supports diagnostic testing for patients.Demonstrates proper instruction and technique for performing appropriate exercise and strength training as needed to ensure patient safety and adherence to exercise prescription, as evidenced by direct observation.Immediately reports significant changes in patient clinical status to appropriate members of healthcare team and assists with emergency care according to department policy, as evidenced by direct observation.Provides validation of clinical decisions for other team members.Supports and engages in clinical outcomes and quality improvement initiatives.

 Requirements: 

1 year Relevant clinical experience as a Cardiac or Pulmonary Exercise Physiologist or clinical experience from an educational program focused on Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehab

Certification: BLS; ACLS; or must have within 6 months of hireTraining: CV technology or equivalent combination of education and experience or within three months of hire. Training in telemetry monitoring or within 3 months of hire (Cardiac Rehab only)Education: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or KinesiologyACSM (CEP) within 12 months or or American Association of Cardiovascular and pulmonary Rehabilitation - Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (AACVPR CCRP)NASM - an equivalent advanced certification within 1 year of hire, to be determined by hiring unit.
