Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant for the Office for Clinical Affairs within the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM).

Under general supervision, this position will perform chairside, desk side and sterilization assistance for Rutgers University Dental Associate providers. Dental Assistant assists providers during various examinations, treatment of patients and dispenses dental materials and instruments. The position performs other clerical, sterilizing and miscellaneous tasks properly aligned with the functions of a dental assistant.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Seats patients, adjust chairs, drapes patients with protective covers. Lays out dental instruments and supplies. Hands instruments to doctor during examinations and treatment of patients. Operates suction equipment. Mixes filling and impression materials. Maintains all dental equipment. Maintains patient records (individual, daily, monthly and yearly). Dispenses equipment and supplies to students. Charts examinations under the direction of the doctor. Serves as sterilization assistant. Restocks equipment and supplies. Maintains enough supplies on hand to efficiently run the clinic.
