Responsibilities:

·Performs advanced dental care services in a clinical setting, at the direction of a Dentist  Prioritizes patient care based on resources, unit volume, and patient prognosis Facilitates smooth patient flow, provides patient education/teaching, explains insurance coverage/co-pays, and assures necessary documents are complete  Assists dentist/hygienist as directed and performs advanced expanded functions assisting techniques, places restorations and fits bands/brackets/appliances Obtains diagnostic dental x-rays using safe radiology process. Uses advanced behavior management techniques to support safe and effective care with uncooperative patients Performs administrative and registration duties, schedules patient visits, and engages in patient correspondence

 

Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED is required. Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience. BLS-CPR certification required. Dental Radiology License in Indiana required. Certification in Expanded Function Dental Assisting from and accredited program or on the job training with minimum of 5 years experience in Dental Assisting required.  Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job required. Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English required. Certification in Caries Prevention and Coronal Polishing Preferred. Requires the ability to demonstrate and foster diversity and inclusion skills. Requires excellent skills in handling apprehensive or difficult to manage children. Requires the ability to work with medically, physically, and/or cognitively compromised patients. Requires the ability to treat patients with special health needs, cognitive needs, and/or those with extreme dental fear.
