Overview The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) will support the dentist by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks, including advanced procedures that require additional training and certification. The EFDA will work directly with patients, assist during dental treatments, prepare and sterilize instruments, take X-rays, and perform other specialized duties as required to improve patient care and efficiency in the dental office. Schedule (days/hours) Monday 9-6 Tuesday-Wednesday 8-5 & Thursday 7-3 Responsibilities Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative treatments, fillings, crowns, extractions, and more. Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, applying dental sealants, placing and removing temporary restorations, and assisting with orthodontic procedures, in accordance with state regulations and office protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring quality and accuracy. Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures. Take impressions for study models, crowns, bridges, and other dental appliances. Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during treatments and ensure patient comfort throughout the process. Maintain and update patient records, documenting treatments, medications, and progress notes.
