Expanded Learning Program Substitute Floater-(Oakland)
We are seeking a substitute floater who will support our elementary after school programs in Oakland. The Substitute Floater will provide support across six elementary school sites for the after-school program, assisting with structured activities, social-emotional learning, and general supervision of students. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to step into various roles as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the program. The ideal candidate is adaptable, enjoys working with children, and can create a positive, engaging environment for elementary-aged students. Benefits: + Part Time: Up to 22 hours per week + Pay Rate: $20-$22 per hour (based on experience) + Off during school holiday and weekends + Stepping stone into a career in education, leadership, advocacy, social entrepreneurship and social justice Minimum Requirements: + High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in education or related fields preferred. + Must pass an instructional aide exam, or provide a transcript with 48+ college units (or AA+ Degree) + Must provide a negative TB Test + Must pass a criminal background check + Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school, camp, or after-school program setting. + Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple school sites within Oakland. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills. + Flexible and adaptable to different environments and team dynamics. + Ability to work independently and follow program guidelines. + CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). + Ability to engage in active supervision, including standing, walking, and participating in physical activities with children. + Ability to lift and move materials for program activities (up to 20 lbs). Responsibilities; + Provide coverage for program staff as needed across multiple school sites. + Assist with the implementation of structured games, activities, and social-emotional learning sessions. + Supervise students to ensure their safety and engagement in program activities. + Collaborate with site coordinators and staff to support daily program needs. + Ensure adherence to program schedules and guidelines. + Build positive relationships with students, encouraging participation and social development. + Assist with transitions between activities and maintain a structured, supportive environment. + Communicate any concerns, challenges, or feedback to site coordinators or program directors. + Support in set-up, clean-up, and preparation of materials for activities.
