Position Purpose: Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service. Receives deliveries, stocks product, maintains product displays, designs floral arrangements and reviews the status and appearance of the merchandise for freshness.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the associate’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Genuinely thanks each customer and invites them back.
• Assists customers by: (examples include)
o escorting them to the products they’re looking for
o securing products that are out of reach
o loading or unloading heavy items
o making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests
o performing other tasks in every way possible to enhance the shopping experience.
• Answers the department telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call including taking product orders.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Responsible for proper inventory control though pricing, labeling, stocking, and watering.
• Ensures an adequate product supply is ready and on hand and develops or follows a production list.
• Reviews the status and appearance of the product for freshness and replenishes and rotates product.
• Builds and replenishes floral displays.
• Designs and assembles fresh and silk floral arrangements.
• Ensures proper merchandising of product by understanding schematics, merchandising of advertised items, proper signage procedures, and meeting customer demands.

• Prepares and completes all daily record keeping and documentation required by Company, Store Director or Produce Manager.
• Cleans all floral equipment, merchandising vehicles and cases, floors, doors, walls and storage areas according to sanitation schedule and standards.
• Removes trash in a timely manner.
• Disassembles and flattens packing boxes and loads disassembled boxes into the baler.
• Ensures all areas of the department remain organized according to “5S” standards.
• Inflates balloons using helium tank for display and customer requests.
• Cuts, trims and wraps flowers and foliage as necessary.
• Checks invoices against delivered products and supplies; places delivered product in designated product storage areas according to “5S” standards.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, Safety and Sanitation regulations, and individual store guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
• Protects associates and customers by removing potential hazards from the sales floor in a timely manner.
• Implements correct product preparation techniques. Uses and operates related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, stem cutters, wire, hot glue guns, spray paint, balloon heat sealing machines, helium tanks and garbage disposal.
• Assists customers by making product suggestions and engages in suggestive selling. Makes intercom announcements.
• Ensures safety, cleanliness and sanitation of work area, cooler, equipment and display area.
• Responsible for performing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately and with honesty and integrity.
• Other necessary and required duties.
• Updates price changes as needed in scales, on shelves and displays.
• Updates Department décor for seasonal merchandising.
• Changes labels and reloads supplies in department.
Skills and Physical Requirements:
• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary.
• Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Requires knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures. Must have knowledge of produce variety, standards, perishability, product handling, sanitation, labeling and department policies and procedures.
• Operates telephones, knives, scissors, safety cutters, stem cutters, wire, staples, hot glue guns, spray paints, balloon heat sealing machines and helium tanks. Utilizes cleaning supplies and equipment. Utilizes knives and safety cutters. Requires use of latex gloves.

• May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Scheduled hours will vary. Good attendance is required.
• Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aids necessary to perform job duties.
Work Environment:
• Hands are frequently exposed to cold water, rose thorns, and a wide variety of plants, flowers, soil mixtures, flower arranging materials and cleaning agents.
• Working conditions consist of a temperature controlled store environment, backroom receiving and production area, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Exposure to 40˚ Fahrenheit while handling products and/or working in a cooler.
• Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions during times when plants, shrubs and trees are displayed outdoors.

Union and Non-Union: “The pay range is $16.91-$24.15 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).”
