Job Title: Mot Specialists/Helpers
Position Objective / Description:
Performs a variety of Traffic Control Setups following the FDOT index involving roads, highways, and heavy construction projects under the direction of a crew foreman.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work site set up, maintenance, and cleanup, to include scaffolding construction and dismantling, barricade locating, and equipment locating.Flag traffic on job sites Set up lane closures/detours etc. Set up barrels/cones on job site Monitor traffic conditions and MOT devices throughout jobsiteMaintain traffic devices after setupLoad unload MOT Signs, Devices, DrumsDirect traffic at or near building sites and carry out other traffic management activitiesSignal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materialsMeasure, mark, or record openings or distances as part of site preparationMaintain clean work area by disposing of trash and debris properly.Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.Promote and adhere to the company’s safety program.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment such as hand tools, power tools and motorized equipment.Ability to listen, follow directions, and have a willingness to continue to enhance skillsAble to communicate effectively with jobsite supervisor and co-workersGeneral knowledge of road construction processes.Demonstrate a safety-first attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general publicAbility to work nights and weekends when necessaryMust have reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned worksitesPhysical Demands:
Constant physical effort, including extended standing for at least 8-hour shiftIntermittent sitting; continuous walking on construction site.Climb intermittentlyOccasionally twist, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch to perform dutiesOccasionally reach above shoulder levelMay lift and carry small objects under 10 pounds on a regular basisAgility, balance, and manual dexterity, as well as arm-hand steadiness
Able to hear and respond to oral instructions in a noisy environment.Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach and graspExcellent hand, eye, and foot coordination.Good vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focusEducation / Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)Experience working as MOT Flagger, or equivalent laborer experience.Active Driver’s licenseWork Environment:
Regularly works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Handles various toxic products such as epoxies, grouts, sealers, paints and cleaners, with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock.
