Boeing Global Services (BGS)  and the C-17Propulsion & Aerodynamics Team, located in sunny Long Beach, California, is seeking an Experienced Aerodynamics Performance Engineer with knowledge of aircraft aerodynamic performance and computer programming to support an in-service fleet of large cargo aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

Performs aerodynamic performance analysis of flight vehicles to ensure that the vehicle meets requirementsPerforms aerodynamic performance calculations to support development of aircraft software improvementsPerforms aerodynamic analysis for potential design changes and in service fleet aircraft configuration non-conformance to original designPrograms & maintains aero performance tools as needed to support aircraft software improvements and fleet operationsInterface with other Boeing organizations (Design Engineering, Field Engineering, Flight Operations, etc), Boeing subsidiaries, and customer personnelPresents information to internal and external customers utilizing written and verbal presentation skillsAssists in training othersMay be asked to support other programs or perform other duties as needed

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.3+ years of experience with airplane performance, including takeoff, landing, and enroute performance.3+ years’ experience utilizing professional/technical writing skills, teaming successfully to solve technical issues.Computer Programming skills and knowledge..

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Knowledge of aircraft software requirements pertaining to aerodynamics, performance, or operability.Familiarity with FORTRAN, Visual Studio IDE, Visual Basic.Familiarity with modern programming languages such as Python.Flight Operations experience, working directly with commercial airlines or military flight operations.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Experienced-Level Summary pay range: $100,300 - $135,700
