We are looking for experienced Geotechnical technicians to join our team. Working for GSI, there is no typical day and the scenery changes often. You will be working outside with your hands in a wide variety of climates. On one project you may be working on a slope installing a retaining wall and the next project you could be stabilizing a bridge. This is the perfect career for someone that does not want to work in a traditional setting like a warehouse or office. This is a career opportunity with significant advancement depending on your personal effort and willingness to learn our business. Heavy travel is required for this role.

Responsibilities Operate construction equipment such as excavator, all terrain forklifts, man lifts, skid steers, and front end loadersReading and determining measurementsMaintain a clean and organized construction siteWork together in a team environmentMix, spray, run hoses, and operate shotcrete or grouting pumpsLearn / Operate rock drills (Cammachio, KIemm, Casagrande, Fraste) Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

At least one year soil stabilization or geohazard mitigation experience requiredHeavy equipment operation experiencePreferred - Prior concrete or shotcrete experiencePreferred - Drilling experienceAbility to travel extensivelyReliability and a strong work ethicAbility to get along with a diverse group of people

Preferred Qualifications:

Class A CDLNozzleman certification (ACI Certification)

 

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  

Climates vary in degrees, in tropical to desert environments.The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is often required. Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.Regular heavy lifting (75lbs+) of construction materials on the job site.

Travel: 100% travelling in the Eastern US (East of the Mississippi River). Employees are expected to work a 3 weeks on, 1 week off schedule. 

 

Compensation: $27-$32 per hour. In 2023, with overtime our employees in this job made the equivalent of nearly $38/hr.
