**This Opportunity**
Provides technical assistance and guidance for design, coordination, and project management support for drinking water, wastewater, and drainage projects. Tasks may include assisting with utility relocations, permitting, design, specification writing, and cost estimating for water utility projects. Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding field conditions, and assessing and advising on the short- and long-term risks to ecological and human health. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.
**Your Impact**
+ Perform engineering design work for water utility projects (drinking water, wastewater, drainage)
+ Coordinate and review data from needed field investigations like survey, geotechnical investigations, subsurface utilities, and wetland/stream delineations
+ Participate in developing modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to meet the water, wastewater, and drainage requirements of various clients and project teams
+ Coordinate with local utilities to facilitate necessary utility relocations as part of the water/wastewater/drainage project design process
+ Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project design work, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
+ Identify conflicts between disciplines (ie. civil, electrical, mechanical) and convene designers to rectify conflicts and find a design solution
+ Verify the characteristics of a site, providing technical assistance on various environmental issues, water cycles, and flow to determine the influence of weather and other environmental forces may have.
+ Coordinate necessary deliverables for permit applications and submissions including initial research and coordination with agencies, preparation of permit plans and application, and responses to permit agency comments
+ Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
+ Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
+ Assist with performing concept level design of treatment works, analysis of hydrologic and hydraulic models, and water quality studies.
+ Assist in the development and preparation of contractor’s specifications for water, wastewater, and drainage projects
+ Coordinate development of cost estimates for water, wastewater, and drainage projects by developing quantity take-offs and working to confirm unit costs with industry standards
+ Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
**Who You Are**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
+ 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in Civil Engineering
+ Engineer in Training Certification.
+ Knowledge of fluid dynamics and civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.
+ Knowledge of Water, Wastewater, Drainage, Erosion and Sediment Control, and Hydrology & Hydraulics Design
+ Ability to use and design water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities in Civil 3D, OpenRoads, InRoads, and AutoCADD
+ Ability to coordinate with other utility agencies, identify conflicts, and coordinate relocations.
+ Knowledge with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products., and mitigation programs.
+ Knowledge of the techniques used in identifying, measuring, sampling and studying water flow, quantities, and movement.
+ Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
+ Basic experience with preparing permit applications for oversight agencies to address the full range of environmental issues and conditions associated with water resources projects.
+ Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
+ Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
+ Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
+ Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
+ Familiarity with water, wastewater, surface water analysis, hydrologic methodologies/model, hydraulic models, and with ESRI ArcGIS software.
+ Experience with coordinating technical matters with public and private groups
+ Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
+ Engineer-in-Training certification preferred
+ 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
+ Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
**Compensation**
Expected Salary: $73,100 - $125,400
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
