Looking for a challenging and exciting career opportunity? Serco is seeking a motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our talented team of 10!

 

Serco supports CMS, a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with state governments to continue supporting eligibility determinations for consumers purchasing health insurance through the Federal Health Insurance Exchanges. As an Experienced Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, planning, implementing, protecting, operating, managing and maintaining applications.

 

This role can be worked from our Herndon, VA office or 100% remote

 

In this role you will:

Design, modify, develop, write, and implement software programming applications.Research and evaluate various technical solutions to help design scalable solutions.Create POC on new technologies, framework to solve business problems.Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Design, plan, and coordinate work teams. Enable the Application Development organization to be able to run and maintain the newly developed technologies and provide technical guidance on the ground.Implement new technical concepts into an existing system.Provide technical support to project team members. Analyze and troubleshoot application issues in a timely fashion.Demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field`s concepts, practices, and procedures. Work with other Engineers in planning, prioritizing, and executing assigned tasks within deadlines.Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level contributor/specialist. May report to an executive or a senior manager.Supervise team of developers with minimal oversight.Break down tasks and delegate resources.Provides technical support to project team members.Maintain and implement new development standards.Able to work independently and support team in performing complicated tasks.Performs a variety of tasks. Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:  

Must be a resident of the United StatesA Masters Degree and 8 years of relevant experience Or a Bachelors Degree with a minimum 10 years of relevant experience Advanced knowledge of Java, relevant open-source frameworks like Spring, Quarkus, Hibernate, DockerHands on experience with developing solutions using AWS technologies like ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, DynamoDB, ALB, Redshift, etc.Analyze and troubleshoot application issues in a timely fashionAdvanced experience designing and developing with various java-based technologiesEnthusiasm for software development, innovation, and a desire to work in a great team atmosphereExperience with GIT, Maven, and modern IDE’s (Eclipse/IntelliJ)Intermediate to Advanced knowledge on SQL and SQL technologiesA wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

Additional desired experience and skills:

AWS Certifications.Understanding of Agile/SAFe methodologiesFamiliarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, SOAP, RPC)Familiarity with using and designing data exchanges with JSON and XMLFamiliarity navigating a Linux environment using command line

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $146,810.02 to $254,422.36; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
