**SLAC Job Postings**
The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) is seeking an experimental Research Associate to work on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The LHC presents ideal opportunities for physics measurements and searches, developing experimental experience in a challenging environment of rapidly increasing luminosity, and developing new innovative reconstruction algorithms, detector upgrades, and machine learning applications at the energy frontier.
The successful candidate will contribute to physics analysis and the development of machine learning for ATLAS / LHC data (such as in reconstruction, simulation, and analysis), and may also engage with other research opportunities in the SLAC ATLAS group, while also demonstrating alignment with the SLAC mission and values ( https://careers.slac.stanford.edu/working-slac/mission-vision-values ).
The SLAC ATLAS group consists of approximately 20 people, of which 3 are currently based at CERN. Information on the SLAC ATLAS group can be found on our web page http://www.slac.stanford.edu/exp/atlas/ .
The SLAC group provides exciting and cutting-edge research opportunities on a variety of experimental areas, with current activities and developing interests including:
+ SM and BSM Higgs and di-Higgs physics analysis
+ Machine learning applications in simulation, reconstruction, trigger, and analysis
+ Reconstruction & Performance, including b-tagging, tracking, jets and jet substructure
+ High luminosity upgrade physics and event reconstruction
+ Detector R&D
There is flexibility to take the post at SLAC or CERN. The potential start time for this position is Winter / Spring 2024.
The position is initially a two-year term with the possibility of renewal.
**Note** : the SLAC ATLAS group is performing two concurrent RA searches. It will be assumed that applications submitted to either post can be shared between the two searches, unless another preference is indicated by the applicant.
**Qualifications:**
These are highly competitive positions as part of the general research associate program at SLAC, requiring a background of demonstrated excellence in research and a recent PhD in experimental particle physics, or related field, or have completed the requirements for such a degree prior to starting the position.
**How to Apply:**
Interested candidates should submit their application through **https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs** .
**Application Material:**
Applicants should provide a CV, Research Statement, and arrange for three supporting reference letters
