Position Summary

 

Performs Vegetation Management Qualification assessments of employees in certain technical or craft roles to ensure and promote skill competence and overall public and employee safety. Facilitates and administers various types of tests or assessments to determine if operations employees in Vegetation Management are performing their job functions correctly and safely.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $114,000

Bay Area Maximum: $182,000

&/OR​

California Minimum: $108,000

California Maximum: $173,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. This position is on-site in Oroville California at the VM Assessment Yard.

 

Responsibilities:

Proctors VM Assessments. Qualification assessments will focus on a specific area of skill/knowledge including, but not limited to, any task(s) performed within vegetation management work. Mentors and provides expertise during the performance and administration of initial and subsequent complex and non-routine Assessments, written or computer-based assessment and field observations of knowledge and skills including new and/or difficult skills and techniques, working independently. Mentors and provides expertise for the preparation of employees for the entire qualification process, both written/computer testing and field observation, through effective communication and tail boarding. Ensures employees understand the purpose and process. Mentors the sharing of outcomes, observations, trends, gaps and issues with direct supervisor, the employee's supervisor and/or manager, which contribute to the development and implementation of mitigating strategies as needed. Mentors the addressing of gaps and issues identified to improve Assessments, coaching tools, process, and/or materials. Mentors and provides expertise regarding the assessment processes are followed and qualification records are maintained in compliance with assessment program requirements. Provides expertise for the enhancement of new assessment/qualification tests and processes. Collaborates with stakeholder groups to ensure appropriate process/asset recommendations are being implemented and maintained. Mentors the training of new qualifications specialists (company and/or contractor). Maintains and calibrates equipment and props. Serves as AED Coordinator

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

High School Diploma or GED Valid Driver’s License CPR / First Aid OSHA 30 Certified Arborist or other International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Credential Electric Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP) Five (5) years of experience in the arboriculture industry Three (3) years’ experience as a field safety observer, foreman or trainer. Five (5) years performing work relevant to assessments. One (1) year of PIM, SCUF, or SVMI experience. Four (4) years of experience work verifying or performing technical disciplines for which incumbent is providing assessments.

Desired:

Commercial Driver’s License OSHA 30 (with focus in Elec Power) Any technical or continued education in related field. (Forestry / utility Veg Mgmt. / logging) Training experience within the arboriculture/utility line clearance industry Expertise in technical discipline for which incumbent is providing assessments Thorough understanding of specific work methods and procedures, including all safety practices. Have both depth and breadth of knowledge and experience across a range of skill/knowledge areas pertaining to utility vegetation management. Customer service skills Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coach and provide feedback   Strong leadership and collaboration skills     Proficient in Microsoft Office:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP skills Knowledge of ANSI Z133 Standards and PG&E Safe Work Practices Can personally pass assessments with competent or proficient level. Can perform assessments on others. Two (2) years of PIM, SCUF, or SVMI experience. Four (4) years of experience work verifying or performing technical disciplines for which incumbent is providing assessments.
