Department Overview
Gas Operations oversees the natural gas transmission and distribution operations. The team maintains and operates 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipeline, 43,000 miles of distribution main, 3.6 million gas services, three PG&E-owned storage facilities with 102 BCF capacity, nine compressor stations with 175K HP, and 5,000 measurement and control facilities. Gas Operations is comprised of approximately 6,000 coworkers.
Position Summary
Support the Gas Transmission Engineering and Design department with the incorporation and on-going activities of the 3D Modeling Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide direction on how to improve project processes through the incorporation of 3D models. Provide AutoCAD assistance and technical support to designers and drafters for problem resolution and training with Autodesk material. Develop 2D block library and 3D component libraries for projects. Manage 3D models and support concurrent engineering efforts. Write job aids, guidelines, and procedures. Mentor designers in the development of 3D modeling skills. Work alongside engineers and designers to drive innovative design solutions. Evaluate and modify current processes and introduce new innovative processes. Create job aids, guidelines, and drafting documentation for AutoCAD software use. All other duties assigned by the manager. Strong knowledge of IT systems including Client Operating systems, Server configuration, Software installation and configurations.This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (San Ramon).
Travel to San Ramon should be expected as needed for training, collaboration activities, monthly operating reviews, as business need requires.
Please note that site visits for training and monthly operating reviews, may not always be in San Ramon, they may be at other offices within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum:$118,000
Bay Area Maximum:$188,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Qualifications-
Minimum:
• BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Computer Science/Information Systems, etc. or equivalent work experience.
• 7 years of job related experience in Business, IT or Engineering fields.
• Participation in projects of high complexity at an expert level or in a leadership role.
Desired:
Experience
Minimum 10 years of relevant utility industrial experience in mechanical and electrical drafting and design. 7-10 years’ experience with AutoCAD. 5-7 years’ experience with Autodesk 3D software, specifically Plant 3D, Civil 3D, and Revit. Prior experience with AVEVA E3D, P&ID is preferred.Skills
Experience in relevant utility engineering concepts and principles and ability to apply them effectively in design drawings and 3D models. Demonstrates expertise in AutoCAD 2D and 3D design applications. Proficient with 3D models and rendering tools in an integrated CAD environment. Ability to create accurate technical mechanical and electrical drawings. Ability to solve complex design challenges and optimize workflows using advanced features of Autodesk software. Able to improve project outcomes through technical expertise.
