Job Summary

We are currently seeking an Explosives Chemist (Entry Level). This position is located in Atlantic City, NJ.

 

Battelle’s Aviation Security Division provides test and evaluation services to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The qualified candidate for this position will support DHS Independent Test and Evaluation (IT&E) events of security technologies at the Transportation Security Laboratory (TSL), where Battelle works alongside the client to evaluate and certify the performance of security screening equipment that secures our nation’s airports.

 

Candidate will be responsible for supporting test planning, test execution, daily reporting, data analysis, and test reporting for discrete test events of transportation security equipment for checkpoint, checked baggage, and cargo screening applications.  Candidate will work on-site at the TSL, supporting a team of highly motivated and talented engineers, scientists, and technicians in conducting critical test and evaluation efforts, including the use of live and simulated explosives.

 

Will perform assignments of routine complexity with moderate supervision by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, and analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables.Helps support the planning and logistics associated with executing complex testing events, including the use of live or simulated explosives and mock passengers to simulate screening operations.Conducts testing with moderate supervision and assists in the interpretation of results and writing of sections of technical reports.Support the preparation of project results, both orally and in written form, and is expected to interface daily with on-site clients and stakeholders.Key Qualifications Successful completion of study from an accredited college or university resulting in a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other related field with 0-2 years of experience. Strong oral and written communication skills.Significant experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Candidates should be highly motivated and self-starters with a strong desire to learn.The candidate must be able to travel.
