EXPLOSIVES SAFETY SPECIALIST
Summary You will serve as an EXPLOSIVES SAFETY SPECIALIST of NAVAL ORDNANCE SAFETY AND SECURITY ACT. Salary Range by Location: Indian Head, MD - $99,200 - $153,354 Norfolk, VA - $88,183 - $136,323 San Diego, CA - $99,044 - $153,113 Responsibilities You will conduct Explosives Safety Inspections on Medium to Small shore activities and Shipboard Explosives Safety Inspections on all classes of ships and submarines. You will serve as a team member on inspections and evaluations of shore facilities, ranges, ships, and physical security; submarine explosives safety programs for compliance with established explosives, weapons, and ordnance policies. You will participate in the Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity (NOSSA) Specialist training programs to develop professional knowledge and skills required by the mission. You will provide expert management advice in all aspects of explosives safety, ashore, related to ordnance operations, structures and facilities, and performs planning and programming for the Navy's Explosives Safety Program. You will serve as the Technical Expert and Functional Lead on inspections and evaluations of shore facilities, ranges, ships, and physical security You will lead and participate in multi-Explosives safety inspection processes. You will present briefs to senior level management at installations throughout the Navy on how Explosives Safety Inspections, Shipboard Explosives Safety Inspections, and Explosives Safety Technical Assist Visits. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-02 (or GS-11 equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating an explosives safety program to ensure compliance with explosives or ordnance instructions, regulations, or procedures related to ordnance operations, structures, or facilities. Additional Information This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-03 broadband encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.
