Shared Services: HRM Employee Health (Full-Time, Day Shift) -
Job Summary: The Exposure Control Nurse-Employee Health facilitates the post-exposure process for employee bloodborne pathogen exposures (BBPE), processes employee exposure cases to ensure protocol has been followed and provides education to employees and departments. Performs contact tracing for airborne transmissible diseases, such as COVID and tuberculosis, as per state and federal guidance as well as LLUH policy. Creates educational material for both targeted and broad audiences of all education and skill levels including providing on site in-services, presentations, and written material. Maintains the sharps injury log as per OSHA’s requirements. Reviews and disseminates BBPE lab results to the appropriate persons and reviews employee immunization status to determine protection. Serves as a resource for the organization regarding exposure control and exposure prevention. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Minimum three years of nursing experience in acute care setting required, preferably as an Exposure Control or Employee Health Nurse.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of state, local, and federal regulations, laws, and guidance. Ability to read, write, and speak in English in a professional manner. Knowledge of the LLUH policies that guide EHS practice after training. Knowledge of exposure control best practice. Knowledge of bloodborne pathogen pathology, rates of conversion, and available PEP. Has effective, professional communication skills. Strong organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills. Ability to analyze, interpret, and present data. Ability to work, collaborate, and communicate effectively with people of all skill and educational backgrounds. Ability to use and troubleshoot a computer and other general office equipment. Ability to use Microsoft office apps such as Excel, Teams, Word, Publisher, Powerpoint, Visio, etc. Ability to use EPIC and Employee Health’s database after training. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to work, collaborate, and communicate effectively with people of all skill/educational backgrounds. Excellent customer service skills. Active listening and leadership skills. Emotional intelligence and ability to work individually as well as part of a team. Ability to distinguish colors; vision adequate for reading text in varying formats (e.g., computer, paper); ability to hear sufficiently for general conversation via all routes and to distinguish various workplace sounds; sense of touch adequate for placement and assessment of PPD tests and immunizations.
Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Valid Driver’s license at time of hire.
