Expressive Therapist - Fitchburg and Worcester
The Arc of Opportunity
Position Summary: Reports to the Division Director of Clinical Services and serves in a collaborative role to staff, senior leadership, and individuals. The Expressive Therapist is responsible for promoting therapeutic expressive services to adults with disabilities in our residential and day program settings.
Schedule: 25 hours/week
Essential Functions:
+ Facilitates individual and group therapy, communicating and integrating the various departments of the agency
+ Utilizes expressive therapy techniques to facilitate
+ Assess individual development, abilities, personality, interests, and conflicts
+ Develops treatment plans based on creative arts and/or expressive therapy principles with varied interventions, based on assessment, interests, and objectives of therapy
+ Prepares and submits individual reactions and progress reports; confers with treatment team
+ Documents and maintains up-to-date related individual case notes in the agency’s electronic health record and goals
+ Enhances and promotes The Arc of Opportunity’s strategic initiatives, overall brand and organizational mission and values through positive promotion and representation
+ Maintains any certification and recertification as required and in accordance with agency, state, and federal guidelines
+ Develops and executes short- and long-term goals which enhance and support strategic plan and priority initiatives
+ Collaborates with CPO, Clinical Director, senior leadership in the coordination and execution of agency and program goals
+ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
+ A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record and CORI are required at all times during employment with The Arc of Opportunity.
+ Master’s degree with background in music therapy, art therapy, horticulture therapy, movement therapy or other expressive therapy required
+ Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
+ ATCB, ATR-BC, MT-BC, REAT, HTM or HTR certification, or other expressive art therapy certification preferred
+ Ability to communicate with others effectively which convey clear direction, desired results and vision to staff, individuals and families served, government agencies, community partners, funding sources, and senior management.
+ Ability to operate computer and variety of office equipment with reasonable accommodations
+ Ability to work flexible hours in a variety of locations (group homes in the community, loud day programs, cubicle-style main office building)
+ Ability to exert light to moderate physical effort which may involve lifting up to 25 pounds, pushing and/or pulling objects of similar weight, with or without reasonable accommodations
