Job Description
Responsibilities:
+ Assembles and operates technical equipment (e.g. tractors, cotton strippers, peanut combine etc.).
+ Assists in coordinating repairs, maintenance schedules and proper maintenance of all farm equipment to maintain safe and efficient equipment.
+ Assists in coordinating and assigning daily work schedules for employees.
+ Assists in purchasing supplies and equipment.
+ Assists in maintaining the grounds of the research program, pesticide storage, safety procedures, and ensure that workers use appropriate personal protective equipment.
+ Prepare seeds, manage planting, monitor crop growth, and assist with harvesting.
+ Collects samples and measurement data from experiments.
+ Implements and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials.
+ Apply agricultural chemicals following safety standards.
+ Assists with program and outreach efforts.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ No prior experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds to shoulder height.
+ Strong work ethic, adaptability, ability to multitask and attention to detail, and and work cooperatively with others.
+ Ability to thrive in physically demanding environments and work as part of a collaborative team.
+ Other Requirements:
+ Ability to perform fieldwork in varying conditions, including high temperatures, dusty environments, cold weather etc.
+ Ability to work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends.
+ Ability to travel to multiple field locations as required.
+ Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
