Extern, Audiology

Park Nicollet is looking to hire an Extern to join our Audiology team!  Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day. 

Position Summary:

Assesses auditory function and communication problems caused by hearing loss utilizing appropriate audiologic diagnostic procedures. Provides consultation and recommendation of audiologic (re)habilitation, including amplification devices (when appropriate). Promotes patient advocacy, patient education, and prevention of communication problems. All position functions are initially completed under the direct supervision of a licensed staff audiologist. As skills become independent, in-direct supervision is appropriate with a licensed staff audiologist co-signing all documentation. Employee may be required to float to any site on occasion, as determined by business need.

Work Schedule:

Fulltime 1.0 FTE. Monday - Friday days.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

The Audiology Extern will have completed 3 years of a 4-year Doctorate of Audiology (AuD) program. 

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

The Audiology Extern will have been granted a Temporary Audiology license from the Minnesota Department of Health and will have earned a passing grade on testing required by the state of Minnesota regarding the dispensing of hearing instruments.

The Audiology Extern will adhere to the Code of Ethics of the national certifying body and educational institution from which s/he will graduate as well as adhere to all Park Nicollet policies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients. 

This position requires strong interpersonal skills and flexibility.

This position requires familiarity and compliance with matters of law, regulations, and internal policies affecting the employment relationship.

The Audiology Extern must routinely and proficiently operate the following: 2 Channel Diagnostic Audiometer, Portable Screening Audiometer, Visual Reinforcement Audiometry System, Diagnostic Impedance Bridge, Auditory Brainstem Response System, Otoacoustic Emissions System, Video-Nystagmography System, Electro-acoustic Hearing Aid Analyzer System, Real-Ear Verification System, Compact Disk Player, Digital Dictation System, telephone, and personal computer with programmable hearing aid software.
