Responsible for operating and controlling the extrusion process for all compounded material and for weighing and blending materials to be extruded. Cross–trained in all Color Lab functions to promote maximum efficiency. FUNCTIONS: Responsible for activating the exhaust system and scale start up at the shift start up. Collects appropriate amount of additives and concentrates. Weighs pigment, additives, and concentrates. Responsible for mixing materials prior to being extruded as needed. Moves/dumps barrels weighing up to and including 250 pounds utilizing barrel lifters, barrel hand trucks or forklifts and skids of materials up to 1300 lbs using a forklift. Stores prepared materials in designated areas utilizing a forklift. Submits samples of color to Supervisor for approval. Upon completion cleans the machine and the surrounding area. Troubleshoots extruder for process control. Performs some preventative maintenance and replaces some parts (e.g., fuses, blades). Ensures weight of extruded materials is recorded in logbook. Record all colors and extruding time on a daily log sheet.
Responsible for completing a daily production report. Maintains all other appropriate paperwork in company format. Performs all work in a safe manner to include the proper use of personal protective equipment. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
§ Assist in bagging area as needed.
§ Delivers material to other buildings when process is completed.
§ Responsible for retrieving units from warehouse utilizing forklift, adding necessary additives to achieve color desired and deducting from inventory.
§ Unitizes specific colored concentrates into bags as needed. Packs finished units on pallets for shipment.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area, keeping walkways and aisles clear. Performs general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and trash removal. When work in primary classification is not available, may perform other duties according to skill and availability.
