Extrusion Machine Operator
**Job Title: Machine Operator** **Pay: $19/Hour** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to set up and run foam extruders. The ideal candidate will ensure finished parts meet customer expectations, use various measuring devices, set up computerized blending systems, and direct packaging associates. You will also be responsible for recording and documenting extruder and finished parts data, and setting up and operating downstream equipment. **Responsibilities** + Set up and run two foam extruders + Interpret specifications and assure finished parts meet customer expectations + Use calipers, tape measures, rulers, OD tape measures and other measuring devices + Set up computerized blending systems to match recipe requirements + Direct assigned packaging associates on quality items to look for and pieces per box + Show packers how to interpret the specification sheet + Record and document extruder and finished parts data + Set up and run downstream equipment including Fly Knives, Puller, Conveyors, etc. + Operate glue application equipment + Set up and operate printers and label applicators as required + Set up and operate support equipment for extruder + Communicate any issues to lead operator + Operate a forklift occasionally + Wear cut-proof gloves when working around/handling materials that need to be cut + Use only assigned utility knives + Change work orders in the controller every time a new work order/product starts **Essential Skills** + 2+ years of experience with extrusion processes + Attention to detail + Above average math and communication skills + Average computer skills + Good time management skills + Ability to read and interpret product drawings (spec sheets) + Ability to read and interpret digital calipers + Ability to work overtime, weekends, and other shifts temporarily if necessary **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Prior foam extrusion experience is preferred + Experience with LDPE foam extrusion is a plus + Prior forklift experience is a plus **Why Work Here?** Join a dynamic team where your contributions are valued and your skills are honed. The shift is 3rd - 11p-7a Monday through Friday, with overtime available on weekends. Training will occur during the day for 4-6 weeks, possibly longer. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hickory, North Carolina. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
